Soaked up some sun!

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

It was beautiful this morning and I was able to get in a run around 11:30 before it got cloudy and cold again. It looks like it supposed to get nice soon. I can't wait! The school I worked in this morning was one I hadn't been in for over a year. It was nice to visit with people and talk about successes and goals, in particular my running goals. It's also the building where Alexis will go to Kindergarten next year, so it was nice to chat with some of the teachers.

After my run and lunch, I went with Alexis to her gymnastics class and got to see what she is working on and then we ran some errands. It was a pretty relaxed night. Alexis and I had dinner and then I watched Survivor with a friend.

I guess I don't have much to say tonight. I'm thinking I might do a 2 mile Fartlek run tomorrow before work, just to see what my body does with 4 days of running in a row. Either way I'll be taking Friday off from running since I plan on doing a long run Saturday and an easy run on Sunday. I am working both tomorrow and Friday, but I won't have much to do since the teacher I'm in for has a student teacher and it's his solo week.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
Eat well
Workout-45 min cardio (Run?)
Stretch
In bed by 10:30

Do you ever look at the Sparksummary calendar when you are going to do something you haven't done in a while? I love to look at it before I go to a school and see what I weighed the last time I saw them. My weight loss has been very slow, so this is a fun way to see my progress over time. emoticon

It was so beautiful for a run in the morning, but I just didn't have time. They're predicting mid 70s one day next week! Maybe we'll actually have a spring after all.

A good day

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

I was going to complain about the weather today, but I decided that it's pretty much pointless and really, it could have been worse. I dropped Alexis off this morning and headed out for my 10K run around her school, which includes a pretty nasty hill, twice. I did end up walking a couple times, but I was fighting through a pretty nasty side stitch.

I worked this afternoon and then spent some time visiting with a friend before running to the grocery store. For dinner I met my parents at a local diner and had some yummy trout, through their salads and sides left much to be desired. Luckily I had a nice, big salad at lunch.

I did accept a job for tomorrow morning, so I'll probably head out for a run after I get done there. Just planning on something short for tomorrow with some strength work after. The rest of this week should go by pretty quickly and then vacation!

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
Eat well
Workout-Run +core (or 30DS)
Stretch
In bed by 10:30

Making plans

Monday, April 04, 2011

First, thank you everyone for your concern about last night's blog. I really wasn't being that hard on myself...I truly did feel sick and apparently looked it too. It was a friend who reminded me that I had felt the same way just a month ago...full but not satisfied. I totally hadn't met my body's nutritional needs. And if I don't write things down, I forget. Hopefully this will help me put it in my head permanently.

So, vacation is next week. I'll have 9 days of no work and then the following week I'll have at least another day and a half off, more likely 2. I've already planned an overnight to visit my SIL and I have a trail run on Saturday the 16th. Other than that, I have to clean my spare bedroom/storage area so that my SIL has a place to sleep when she comes to visit me on the 17th or 18th. I should be able to get some killer runs in and I'm praying that the weather remains spring like, though with a bit more sun than we had today would be nice.

I did get in a run this morning. I somehow managed to sneak in 4 miles between rain storms. I even worked a full day today, yay! I should meet all of my goals for today, just need to finish my water and stretch. I'd also like to fold some laundry before I crash for the night. Tomorrow it looks like I'm not working until after lunch, so I'll have plenty of time for a couple more miles in the morning.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
Eat well
Workout-Run
Stretch
In bed by 10:30

See! I redeemed myself too. Maybe we needed to fall down on Sunday in order to have the motivation to run in the rain on Monday!

Strong start but faded fast...some reminders to myself

Sunday, April 03, 2011

Today started out great! Church was good, we had leftovers for lunch and then headed out to Alexis' first soccer practice. Seriously, what was I thinking...I knew I was going to stand there and talk to moms and take pics/video instead of running.

Note to self-set realistic goals and follow through. (I totally could have run at least a couple laps)

After soccer, we headed up to my friend's house for a Pampered Chef party (she booked from me, so I wanted to go support her). The food was good. Nothing spectacular, but, as usual, I over indulged and picked (and kept picking).

Note to self-eating like this makes you feel like crap. Try a little of the best stuff and walk away. There will be time for a real meal later. It's NOT worth it!

Then, I had choir tonight. And after not running and eating garbage, I was feeling rather lethargic, so I had more sugar (in the form of 3 cookies) at break. Guess what, it didn't help.

Note to self-seriously, you feel terrible right now. Remember this feeling. You had it after your own PC party too.

So, now it's 10pm. I didn't eat very well today and I didn't get my run in. I did drink all my water and I will stretch and head to bed soon. Next weekend we are supposed to have a whole family gathering/pot-luck. I'm considering excusing myself from it (which wouldn't be a bad thing since we have both soccer and choir again next week) just so that I don't end up feeling this way again. I'm going to have to make sure I'm up early enough to get my runs in this week. I'd like to get in 25-30 miles again.

Note to self-you have a HM in 6 weeks. Pick a training schedule and follow it. Starting now.

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
Eat well
Workout-Run +core (or 30DS)
Stretch
In bed by 10:30

I always pick Sunday as my off day.....I've got too much going on on Sundays...church, teaching Sunday school, family gathering, and preparing for the next week of school for the kids and work for me. Maybe consider not scheduling your runs on Sunday's, but do one of your quick workout video's instead. That way, you're still staying active, but also setting reachable goals for yourself.

By the way, you're my hero and you have no idea how many times I think about you: "If Julie can do it, so can you!"

I think Sunday must just be a tough day. I blew Sunday too. (SonIL birthday) Not too bad, but bad enough. I also did not work out and felt that I cheated myself out of the good weather.

We are all human. Wouldn't want to be anything else! Sometimes I think we need to fall down just a little so that we remember what it feels like to get up!

Note to friend-it's important to stick around at a child's practice once in a while, to show them they come first.
Note to friend-I feel relieved that you are not perfect. Perfect people annoy me!
Note to friend-Today is a new day and I blew it yesterday...at...MOM's...nothing new!

Here we go! We're back on track! HM is so scary/exciting/brave/cool! Best of luck to you!

I do think it's good to learn from mistakes, but we've also got to learn to live our lives. Temptations & all. I'd go to the family gathering IF it's family you want to hang with. Mske a plan - tell someone there what it is so you're accountable to someone. And enjoy!

Had a great day, but sharing a video

www.youtube.com/watch?v=cM5A1K6TxxM

My mom posted this to her FB wall today, please watch. It's amazing. Never stop running!

Today was a good day, I got my run in (8 miles) on one of our local bike paths so that I could more easily push the jogging stroller. Alexis was awesome. She told me she would take a nap and she did, for almost an hour. I was a bit slower than normal (pushing an extra 50 pounds will do that), but it was supposed to be a long, slow run anyway. The sun was gorgeous and it was in the 40s. I could have done without the wind, but it's better than the cold! Tomorrow I plan to do some running on the track while she has her first day of soccer. Have a blessed Sunday!

Goals for tomorrow:
80+ oz water
Eat well
Workout-Run
Stretch
In bed by 10:30
