Life. Spring is a crazy time of year for me, it feels like I am always on the go. Unfortunately, I also tend to let things slide, like healthy habits. I've been training for a spring marathon, but doing little else in the way of cross training or strength training, and paid for it. I'm currently dealing with a strain in my hip flexor with a week to go until my 26.2. Rest massage and hot yoga are helping, but it's frustrating to not run when it's been so nice out.

This week I had a lightbulb moment when I realized it's my own fault I'm injured. Still carrying too much weight, not eating right and not working any of my stabilizing muscles. So...here we are. On the menu...alternating kick boxing and some kind of strength/circuit training EVERYDAY in addition to my running. Try to make it to hot yoga once each week. Eat better. It's time to stop worrying what the other adult in my house will or won't eat and start cooking healthy, varied meals again. The kids will feel better, I'll feel better and he can deal or find his own food. I won't cater to fussy adults at my own expense any more. More water, I know I feel better when I drink it...so just do it.

I have lots of races coming up...it's time to do what I do best. Onward and Upward!

I've been plugging along. Finished January with about 103 miles and a 5 minute plank. I pulled out 30 miles the first full week of February toward my 100 mile goal for the month and have been maintaining a pretty good run schedule of 4-5 days/week. I really enjoyed the plank challenge, but I haven't started the push up challenge yet. I'm finding that I really need top add more strength training...so, to that end, I'm planning to start doing double workouts again a few days a week. 30 day shred in the morning and then my run or kickboxing in the afternoon. I know my shape has been changing, but I'd really like to see more definition.

I still, over 4 years into this journey, am amazed by how quickly you get stronger than you ever thought you could be. How things that seemed impossible become easier with a little work. When I started running, even one mile sounded crazy, now I run 10+ for fun with friends. One month ago, I struggled to hold a plank for 1 minute, last night I did 4! 4 minutes! Crazy!

I'm one mile away from hitting 100 for this month. One stinking mile! Wish I had checked my sheet before I left, other than being over dressed, I actually felt pretty good today and I had the time. I'll finish it off on Friday though. Should be a bit warmer then.

Goals for tomorrow:
~64+ oz water
~eat well and mindfully
~30 min kickboxing and plank challenge
~set daily goals and Spark
~in bed by 10

    Wow, that's really inspirational! I'm still working towards being able to run a 5K. I've taken a long break from it so I'll have to start over, but it's definitely a goal of mine.

Great job! It's clear that you've accomplished a lot!! Keep doing what you're doing!

Man does life seem busy right now. I've still be sparking though. Working on eating better, running 3-5 days/week, finishing up my 30 day plank challenge, getting back into cross training and strength training. It's been a pretty good month so far. With one week left I can definitely see some changes in my body, if not in the scale. I'm on pace to run 100 miles this month, my highest milage Jan ever. Only about 8 more to go this week.

One of my goals for this year is to set a personal record for every distance that I have raced (5K, 10K, 15K, HM, Marathon). As of 2 Saturdays ago, I broke my old 10K record (set 3 years ago) by 12 seconds (came in at 52:45)! Yay! I'm back on track and I feel like this year is going to be one of my best yet! I'm currently kind of training for the possibility of a spring marathon. I ran 14 miles with a friend the day after my 10K race and we are planning to run 16 this weekend. Because, why not? Just hoping it's a bit warmer.

~eat well and track

~set daily goals and Spark

There never seem to be enough hours in a day. I never got my workout in yesterday, but I did do my plank. Not a great day for Sparking, but good in other ways. I absolutely will get out for a run this afternoon. I've already let people know that I intend to do it. That and my plank. I think I'm at 2 minutes today. Just breathe.

Miss A. (my 7 year old) went for a run with me Monday afternoon. She ran ~2.5 miles at an 11:10 m/m pace. She decided to challenge herself to see how far she could go without walking. I bet she could have done more, but it was her call. I'm so proud of her! She'll be ready for The Color Run in April in no time! It makes me happy that she enjoys running with me. I hope it's something she can carry with her into high school and adulthood. What do you wish you had taught your kids early?
