July 31, 2014 UNDERSTANDING ETERNAL VALUE
We can go through the motions of the day, focus on the tasks we have to do and even get a lot of things done; however, if we arenít working for the Lord then all is in vain. We need to understand the work we do is for riches in Heaven. We need to understand our focus should be on doing what is going to make an eternal impact rather than a worldly one. We need to understand on Judgment Day, our work will be reviewed and judged to see if what we did on earth really made an eternal difference.
1 Corinthians 3:13 ďBut on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a personís work has any value.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, we pray You will give us insight, understanding and wisdom to know what work we should be doing today that will glorify only Your name. We know the work we do here that is only for the world will soon be consumed by fire but the work we do for eternity will last forever. It is a powerful thought and beyond our comprehension, but give us the understanding we need to carry out Your will. In Jesusí name. Amen.
Making that difference that will pay off in eternal riches is what we should be striving for every day.
There are things we can do that will only cause temporary gain. And then there are things that will cause eternal rewards. Which do you choose to do today?
If we arenít working for the Lord, then we are working in vain.
When we are truly working for the Lord, not only will we be storing our riches in heaven, but we will bringing others along with us.
When we understand the eternal value we should be making here on earth, we have reached the understanding we need from God.
Matthew 6:19-20 ďďDonít store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.Ē (NLT)
Focus: Donít let another day pass without doing something toward your eternal future.

July 30, 2014 BEYOND OUR UNDERSTANDING
There are so many things in life that are beyond our understanding. We may have been hurt in the past. We may be currently going through tough times. We may be worried about the future. However, God understands our past, our present and our future. When we give our lives completely to Him, we can stop trying to understand and just completely focus on Him. Godís abilities are far more than we can understand; however, we can depend on Him to give us all we need.
Philippians 4:7 ďThen you will experience Godís peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, we give our lives completely to You. We love and trust You. We know we will never understand why things happen to us but we know You do understand. We know we can learn from our situations and move on. We know we can share what happens to us with others and tell them about You and how You can help them through tough times as well. We are so glad You know everything so we donít have to. Thank You, Lord. In Jesusí name. Amen.
When things are beyond our own understanding, there is a reason and there is no need to always try to figure things out.
When we lean on Godís understanding rather than our own, we will be able to focus on Him rather than the situation.
Some say to focus on the solution rather than the problem and things will get better. Well, God is the solution so we can simply focus on Him.
There are things in life which are going to be too much for us to understand. That is when we can simply lean on God for guidance.
We can be relieved knowing God has all the answers and we donít have to know the reasons why everything happens.
Job 12:13 ďBut true wisdom and power are found in God; counsel and understanding are his.Ē (NLT)
Focus: Rather than focusing on the problem, focus on the solution. Focus on God.

July 29, 2014 YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING
What we understand is relative. It is relative to what we know. It is relative to our experiences. It is relative to our perception. We are different. We know that. We understand things differently because we know, experience and perceive things differently. Thatís the facts and thatís the issue. And that is why God tells us to trust in Him and not to lean on our own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5 ďTrust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, we know one thing for certain. We will never understand things the way You do. But we can trust in You. We can depend on You. We can pray and put our hope in You. When we understand that You are all we need, then we will understand that what we know sometimes doesnít help us to understand. Help us to not lean on our own understand but to lean on You in all we do. In Jesusí name. Amen.
When we only make decisions with our own understanding of things, there will be problems.
Getting others involved in helping with a situation is good, but getting God involved is better.
God knows all. He understands. He wants to help. So let Him.
Because we are all different, we are going to see things differently. But God is consistent and can always help.
When we allow God to work in us and help us to understand, He will give us the power to do what He has called us to do.
Philippians 2:13 ďFor God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.Ē (NLT)
Focus: Read Godís word and trust in Him today rather than your own understanding.

July 28, 2014 FINDING UNDERSTANDING
How is it that some of us are better at finding things than others? Some of us can look in certain places and find something quickly while others of us search for days. One reason is because we visualize what we are looking for. If the object is green, we look for green things. Another reason is because we keep looking and donít get distracted. We donít give up. And finally, we believe. We know without a doubt we will find it. When we are searching for wisdom, knowledge and understanding, we need to seek wise things, donít give up and trust in God believing He will give it to us.
Proverbs 2:6 ďFor the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, we know You grant wisdom, knowledge and understanding to those who seek it. Help us not to give up but to continue to seek You even in the hard times. Help us to seek You even in the fun times. Help us to seek You even in the times where we feel we have everything under control. Only You can give us the wisdom, knowledge and understand we need. In Jesusí name. Amen.
Only when we decide to go to God will we have the understanding He is ready to give.
To find what God wants us to do in life, we have to get into His word.
If we really wanted to understand and know what God wants us to do in our lives, we would be seeking Him all day, every day.
When we seek God, meditate on His word and focus only on Him, we will gain understanding.
When our faith is strong and we are trusting in God, we will want to read His word and find understanding.
When we meditate on Godís word and His wonderful deeds, He will give us understanding.
Psalm 119:27 ďHelp me understand the meaning of your commandments, and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.Ē (NLT)
Focus: Never stop searching for understanding from God.

July 27, 2014 DONíT ACT THOUGHTLESSLY
Understanding the will of God seems hard for some and impossible for others. How can we really know what God wants us to do? How can we really know His will? Three things can help: relationships, love and desire. When we build a close relationship with God, love and trust Him completely and strongly desire to know and do His will, He will reveal it to us. Doing these things requires we spend time with Him, get to know Him, read His word and have complete faith in Him. Then we will understand what He wants us to do.
Ephesians 5:17 ďDonít act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.Ē (NLT)
Dear Lord, we pray we donít act thoughtlessly today. We pray we seek Your will. We pray we seek understanding. We pray we seek a close relationship with You. Help us to draw close to You. Cleanse us, Lord. Empty us of all the things of the world and fill us with all that You are. Help us to make wise choices and understand what we need to do to be obedient to You. In Jesusí name. Amen.
Doing whatever we want when we want can cause us to become stagnant and indifferent.
When we choose to love God, draw close to Him and seek His word and His will, we will have a better understanding of what He wants.
Only God knows what the right things are for us to do. And how we find out is by going to Him.
We have a direct link to God and can seek Him anytime, anywhere. So what is stopping us?
It seems much more exciting to live a thoughtless life because we can do whatever we want without being responsible to anyone.
When we understand what God wants us to do, we have a better direction in life.
Proverbs 2:11 ďWise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.Ē (NLT)
Focus: Think before you act and ask God for guidance so you will understand the right thing to do.
