IDEA - Day 28: I think I broke it

Today was a Tuesday and in my land of planned and measured training that means today was bike day. I did a couple of things differently today. First, I wore my Vibram Five Fingers while cycling. At first I thought it was a good idea due to how light they were.

Well, they were a good idea until i broke my pedal on my bike.

That's right, broke the pedal. What can I say, I'm kicking my bike's a$$.

So, 40 or so minutes of biking in today, bought some new metal pedals so I don't have to risk breaking them again, and I am feeling really good.

I can't wait to see what Awesome Thursday's weigh in looks like - it seems like after I take Wednesday off something magical happens and I lose extra weight.

PS - Thanks everyone for the supportive notes on my blog yesterday! I felt amazing on my ride today, and I know I'll feel just as amazing on my run Thursday!

    Wow, broke the pedal! So, that must means something good such as you're really working hard with bicycle and consistent, yeah! This reminds me of when I was so excited to try jump rope while on a trip (it was a business trip). Day 1, jumped on the soft carpet so no loud thumping sound in the hotel room but Day 2, the rope snap LOL

IDEA - Day 27: I really struggled today

Fortunately or unfortunately, keeping within my calories when I make a conscious effort has not been all that difficult for me. Am I sticking to a strict 1200? Hardly. I aim for between 1200 and 1400 calories a day and I seem to do that pretty well.

Where I struggled today was with my workout. I went for my bike ride yesterday and it felt harder than usual. I just kept pedaling but I couldn't seem to get moving. I always felt like I was at a crawl. Today for my C25K training I struggled on the last 3 minute run. I actually had to stop and walk for a few seconds before kicking it back up again.

What's going on? Is this normal?

Tomorrow I bike into work and then to the FKC. Wednesday is my rest day, so maybe that will help. I should mention that I'm repeating C25K week 3 again - I just don't quite feel confident that I can do week 4 yet.

I hope that everyone's Monday went better than mine did! Here's to making it through the rough patches!

    I think it's normal to have slow days, it depends on your energy level, what you ate, rest - I find those affect my workouts even if it's same thing that I did on previous days.

By the way, at first glance, FKC looks like KFC, hehe.

    Rough patches are the bits that make us keep going. Because its in the rough patches that we learn how to beat this, how to control it! Keep pushing and whats C25K? Good luck!

    Be of good courage my friend. You will have slow days. It is normal. You might need to eat more carbs. Always have some protein with it.

IDEA - Day 26: What does a good reward make?

So, I've been thinking a lot about how to celebrate the big 2-0 when it comes. It'll be the big 1-0 for my time during the study but 2-0 since March.

So, what makes a good reward? I already bought new work out clothes, a holder for my ipod for when I run. and a computer for my bike so I can keep my speed more consistent.

Maybe, just maybe, I'll sink some money into the photos I want to get at DragonCon this year. For the unindoctrinated, DragonCon is like ComicCon, only it happens in Atlanta. It's just as big, just as much fun, and less driven by the studios. I go every year and I love it! One of the things to do at these events is get a photo taken with celebrities. They're generally expensive. Someone I want a photo with is John Barrowman, but it's like $75.

    I like your ideas of rewards, I've been searching on my own non-food rewards as I usually end up rewarding myself with ice-cream or chocolate.

I read about DragonCon in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series (some of the characters love to go there). I wish I can go to either one, ComicCon or DragonCon or anime (lots of cosplay!)

    Go with the photos, I think that the workout clothes sound awesome, but sometimes its nice to do something for ourselves that does not revolve around working out!

IDEA - Day 25: So close to 20 pounds down

Today has been an amazing day. I posted the photo that is now my profile picture up on my facebook wall and the response has been overwhelming. I know, it's a cheater angle, and I know I've posed really well; but, I feel like I look -ahem- good.

Do you have any idea how long it's been since I felt that way?

Do you have any idea how long it's been since other people expressed feeling the same way, too?

I was just showing off my Starfleet Academy t-shirt, not even trying to imply that I've lost a lot of weight...

It was just a great day :)

Now, I mentioned in my video blog that my highest weight ever was 230 pounds. Well, this morning I stepped on the scale and I was down to 211.2. That's almost 20 pounds lost since MARCH.

I'm feeling motivated and awesome.

Today's canundrum is keeping myself from binging at my brother's movie celebration tonight. I'm going to plan out what I'll get before I leave the house and only drink water at the theater. I got this in the bag!

IDEA - Day 24 Validation and the Wrong Way Up the Trail.

Happy Friday!

Today was the second exercise I had in biking to work. Grand total of about six or seven miles round trip, but I find myself so very happy when they're over!

Today I was fortunate enough to have my Aunt who is a personal trainer review my training plan for the 5K. She seemed pleased with not only the pace I plan to progress but also that I'm cross training on the weekends.

Green bars are my planned fitness minutes, purple bars are actual minutes; Blue line is projected weight loss and red is actual. Yes, I came up with this pretty little chart all on my own. :)

In other news related to biking to work I have discovered that the trail I go one direction on for my weekend ride is in fact a tough mamma jamma in the other direction! No joke, I have no idea how a trail can be uphill both ways, but this one is! There were a lot of curses that were spewn as I conquered the trail today, that's for sure!

Well, on to the weekend!
