I MIGHT know what's wrong with my stomach

well I have been dealing with stomach issues for over a month now and its getting really tiring. I'm not eating much and when I do eat I get stomach pains and very gassy and bloated.

well while waiting for the next test I have to do, an upper GI series, I decided to do a little test of my own. I have been eating gluten free for over a day now. I think it's making a difference, I have less pain and less gassy bloated feelings. actually the pain is almost gone completely lol.

So I called my doctor and spoke to his nurse. I told her my theory and that there is a improvement after only 24 hours, obviously I'm still not back to normal. anyway, I think it's celiac disease, or might be lol. Obviously it's just a theory and could be quite wrong but as the first step is a blood test which is 90% accurate I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

I'm now just waiting for the nurse to talk to my doctor and then call me back, if he agrees to the blood test I don't even have to go in and see him until after the results are in.

I know if it is celiac it's going to be a challenge changing my diet forever but at this point I don't care I just don't want to feel crappy anymore!!! and if it IS celiac then I'll know what to do to fix it lol. I'm actually kinda hoping it is just so that I finally know what's wrong!

    My younger daughter had severe stomach problems about 2 years ago. Didn't make any difference what she ate or when, she would have terrible stomach cramping,bloating, and felt like she coculdn't even swallow the food. They FINALLY found she had a bacterial infection in her lower stomach. She was on some powerful antibiotic for a time and it cleared up. Now she has been having the problem again. Stomach hurting, diarhea, bloating. She has been having a lot of emotional issues at work so was attributing her tricky stomach to that. She is down 20 pounds in the last 2 months!! A friend told her that the bacteria that caused her problems last time never goes away, just lies dormant until something gets it active again. So she is going back to the GI to see if that's her problem. Your symptoms sound so similar to hers. Have you been checked for a bacterial infection? Just a suggestion because I know how absolutely miserable you must be! I hope you get some answers soon.

    I know the stomach can cause all kinds of problems, so I hope you get yours resolved. I have to baby mine all the time or suffer the consequences. but Good Luck on finding out your problem and taking care of it.

    Hopefully you find the cause. It may not be full blown celiac disease but just an intolerance. Cutting down on gluten is no harm anyway. Best of luck

New Reward Planned

So I was reading some the feature articles and things on the start page today, and it was talking about using vacations as a reward.

I have decided to do that ^_^ I am going to go on vacation after I get down to 300 lbs, it's a ways away but I need time to save money lol. That gives me just under 75 lbs and if I don't quite have money yet its fine it can wait a bit til I do. I'm planning on next year cus I need time to lose all the weight and save all the money its expensive lol. but its the flight thats going to be most expensive I think.

I don't have any significant other in my life right now and I have no friends who would be willing to travel I think. Mostly because of financial issues, we all have them lol.

I am going to go alone!!! I have never traveled anywhere alone lol. I'm going to go on a singles cruise, not to meet people but because then other people will be looking for company for the duration of the vacation as well. Either way I will be doing this alone and I am so excited!

I'm still getting over whatever was wrong with my stomach but I am starting to eat a bit more. I have lots of time though lol.

I feel like I need to get out of my comfort zone and enjoy myself so this vacation will be a really good thing for me. I will travel out of the country alone to somewhere I have never been before. I think even a short vacation like this will really help me discover myself more ^_^ I live not far from family and I rely on my parents way too much. I've never even gone to the family cottage alone lol. I think later this summer one weekend I will go alone.

I will really be alone though lol, I don't know any of the neighbors and there wouldn't even be random people to talk to like on the cruise. But I think it would be really relaxing being there alone. Only for a weekend though, much longer and I might get cabin fever lol.

    I think that's a fantastic idea! Like you said, since everyone else on the cruise will be single as well, you are likely to meet people and make friends and at least everyone will be in the same boat. (HA! Boat! See what I did there?)

still weak from being sick

well I was sick for about a month, first with a cold, then maybe a day of dehydration, then some nasty stomach bug.

I actually went to the hospital a couple times cus drinking water made me nauseous. I am improving now, not nauseous anymore. but because I was off food for over 2 weeks my stomach has shrunk quite a bit. I'm not eating enough and I definitely lost a lot of my strength over that time.

I'm slowly easing back into food, I can handle most things in small amounts though I haven't tried dairy yet.

My lunch today was a peanut butter sandwich, I had 3 bites and I felt uncomfortably full lol. its almost 1/4 of the sandwich which is almost but not quite half a slice of bread plus the peanut butter. I'm taking it really slow. once 3 bites doesn't make me uncomfortably full anymore ill try 4 bites lol.

I have lost a total of 44 lbs while being sick, I met and passed my first goal of 375 over that time. I'm eating less than 1000 calories a day, sometimes less than 500. its an improvement though. I imagine its going to take a while, like 2-3 weeks minimum to get back to normal.

I have set my next goal at 350, currently 372, and now that I'm eating small amounts I'm not losing quite so fast lol. This isn't the way I wanted to do it but I'm pretty sure I couldn't gain back all the weight I lost even I were able to eat normally right now lol.

The doctor wants to run another test though in case there's something with my stomach like an ulcer or something maybe lol. I have already had xrays, an ultrasound and a ct scan. he wants an upper GI series, I just hope I can drink enough of the contrast liquid as I can't drink lots at one time either.

I am slowly getting back to work, I've been here 3 hours today and I'm hoping for 5 though I'm getting tired so I may only do 4 or 4.5. and I can tell from 2 weeks in bed that I have lost a lot of strength, I feel it mostly in my core, my abs and back get sore from sitting for too long. and too long isnt long enough lol. the only thing that doesnt hurt is lying down which wont help me get the strength back lol. when I'm at home I tend to sit up on the couch and when I get tired I lie down for a bit but I can't do that at work. I know as I eat more too I'll get more energy.

I know I'm not getting enough nutrients too since I'm eating so little, so I picked up some gummy vitamins ^_^ for adults. I know they're not the best quality vitamins lol, but they do taste good and theyre better than nothing.

I'm just hoping it doesn't take too long before I can do a whole day at work as I've already missed over 2 weeks.

    sorry that is taking sooo long for you to recover, try eating small bites several times a day. Those gummy vitamins may be a good choice now since your eating so little you wouldn't want anything in your stomach that could be a problem irritating it. Got luch with the upper GI testing, hope all goes and ends well.

    I'm glad you're starting to feel a little better, but I'm still really worried about you. eat what you can when you can. Your body needs nutrients and not getting them will likely just make you sick in other ways. I hope the doctor can figure out what's going on!

    emoticon Glad you're able to eat something again. Take it slow and when your energy permit try to introduce some activity slowly, like a walk. This will keep the scale from going up too much as you start to eat.

    You poor thing!! That peanut butter is the best, really, for energy, protein is hard to come by, without dairy.. maybe some of that protein shake powder from the health food store to get you going.. even if you have to mix it with ginger ale..
The milder the cheese, the easier on the tummy,, fresh mozzarella is smooth, moist, can be spread on soda crackers or bread, teensy bites, but packed with protein..
just take it a day a ta time,,
the health part is way more important right now,, getting that system back to normal is key,, you take care!!!

Well I ended up missing my first appt with the personal trainer because I was sick. I'm going tonight even though I'm not completely better yet. We're just doing goal setting anyway so no exercising, I think I'm up for that now.

I always have a problem when I'm sick. I drink on average 12-14 glasses of water every day, but when I'm sick it's always a struggle to get the recommended 8. Yesterday I came back to work and I'm still not feeling the greatest of course but I was ok. I didn't eat much or drink much though, and then last night I got sick because I didn't drink enough water.

It really wasn't pleasant. I'm doing much better today though, I just started sipping water really slowly last night. I'm actually eating some oatmeal today too. I'm being very cautious mind you eating only a few bites every 15-20 mins. I can't miss any more work I already missed 2 days.

This is the first time I have ever been sick due to dehydration, at least this badly. I usually get a headache when I don't drink enough water way before I get sick lol. But this time the combination of the heat and my cold was just too much.

I've already got 3 cups of water in me today and its only just noon, so I should be able to at least get the 8 today.

Tonight I'm seeing the trainer to set all my goals and then I will be waiting until next week, maybe monday, to start actual training. I just want to make sure I'm completely better so I can really put the effort into it.

I also think I'm going to tell the trainer I don't want to be weighed. I weigh myself at home every week or 2 and thats enough. I would rather he focus on just doing his job, while I focus more on feeling better and living healthier, and less on losing weight. I think the numbers always scare me lol. So I will be putting much less emphasis on them. he can weigh me today for the first time and then maybe once a month but not every week.

Low expectations

well I try not to have expectations that are too high anyway. If I lose 1/4 pound I'm happy. This week won't be great though.

I'm sick with a cold right now, super sore throat and cough. Not really much else for now but I am sucking down the soup and hot chocolate like there's no tomorrow. I will also be consuming a fair amount of ice cream as no amount of advil is really helping my throat.

I will be trying to increase my water intake to help with all the sodium I'm getting in the soup.

Even if I gain I won't care over the next couple weeks because my priority is feeling better. After that I'll work on losing anything I may have gained.

Oh and I won't be starting to work out with my new trainer for a week or 2 until I feel better. My first session last night was ok, I was just starting to get the sore throat but all we did was goal setting anyway. I'll post my goals in a blog later on.

    For me it never fails when I start going on working out and eating better I get sick. Hope you feel better soon. Try lemon tea with honey in it instead of hot chocolate, less sugar and it's better for cough and cold.
