Physical Therapy for SI Joint Pain

Friday, February 01, 2013

I had my transformal epidural injection in December and it lasted a good month. It was great!!! I went back to my pain management doctor and he felt that it should have lasted a bit longer and maybe I need to go to physical therapy. I had gone in the past, but, they focused more on my hip bursitis and not my back pain. The physical therapist noted that it is my SI joint that is causing my pain. I had an SI joint injection Feb 2012. The pain has come back!!! I'm hoping that physical therapy will help me. I go back to the pain management doctor in six weeks.

I hope the therapist can teach you so ways to alleviate the pain and strengthen the areas around the joint. Ask what kind of movements will be beneficial to you. Above all do the exercises they recommend especially at home besides just at the appointments since we know consistency helps in the long run.

I sure hope you see more progress to report back to the pain management doctor.
Best of Luck.

Herniated Disc/Facet Joint

Friday, November 09, 2012

I just completed having six facet injections in my spine about two weeks ago. I thought that I had only one injection because I only found one bandaid. The injection did very little for my pain. I did have arthritis in the facet joints, but, it isn't obviously the cause of my problem.
My next injection will be a transformational epidural injection in the nerves by my herniated discs. I never envisioned that I would be dealing with back issues in my 40's. My parents are in their 80's and don't have any back problems. I'm afraid that I am not aging well!!!

Real Diagnosis

Saturday, July 28, 2012

I finally had a diagnosis for my lower back pain. I have a mild case of spinal stenosis. I found it through a suprising source my acupuncturist. I was dumbfounded. I contacted the orthopedic and asked that he look at the MRI again and sure enough I have a mild case of spinal stenosis. Why he hadn't been able to see with an MRI and an x-ray is beyond me. The orthopedic who only mentioned that I had an SI joint issue. Needless to say, I am no longer seeing this physician.
I made an appointment with a neurologist who specializes in non invasive techniques for lower back issues. I hope that he will be able to assist me. The pain is very tolerable but would like to make sure that it doesn't progress any further.
I've gained 10 lbs since I haven't been able to work out at the same intensity. I realize now that I have to work out differently.

Spinal stenosis is a pain for sure. That's why I have to get weight off. I have not only disc spaces needing worked on, but I have spinal stenosis between my shoulders and it's affecting my right arm....makes it go to sleep a lot. I can just be sitting here and not move and one minute my arm is awake next it's asleep then awake then aching. It's gotten bad enough it's giving me rebound headaches.

So I am working towards getting weight off so I can have surgery, as mine requires surgery to fix before it does permanent nerve damage.

SI Joint Injection Experience

Monday, February 20, 2012

I went to an outpatience center to have the SI joint injection. The doctor needs to use an X-ray type of machine to insure that he has gotten into the joint. You need to bring someone to drive you home.
Ihad my SI Joint injection on Thursday morning. It was a positive experience. I was sedated so I didn't feel any pain. I'm not feeling much relief, but, hopefully it will get better with time. I really miss not going to the gym. The SI joint issue has stalled my weight loss progress.

I'm coming to the realization that I might have to live with the pain. It makes me a little sad but I'm sure things will work.

I'm considering SI injections myself. Did you ever feel better or get a second round?

SI Joint Issue/Injection

Saturday, February 04, 2012

I found out that my lower back problems are from my SI joint. I've been to physical therapy and the chiropractor and still no relief. I went back to the orthopedic and he stated that I had SI joint problems and need to get an SI injection.
I've scheduled the injection for February 16th. I will have a family member drive me home since the injection will cause numbness in my leg. I hope that this will solve the problem.
It's amazing how much the SI joint problems has impacted my physical abilities. I can't walk very long or enjoy any other activity.
Has anyone else had an SI joint issue or had any luck with the injection?
