The beginning of another week of being on track. It feels good to know I'm staying exactly where I want to be. I'm working on different goals but still working. Consistency pays off. My top goal now is to complete a strength training program out of the book The New Rules of Lifting for Women. I am halfway through the 6 month program and really enjoying it. I still weigh every week. I still track my food once or twice a week - sometimes more, sometimes less. I am determined to stay on track!

 Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since I blogged. My life has been busy and complicated, but things are beginning to calm down again...just in time for a new toy.
Our son bought a Wii Fit as a Mother's Day gift! He preordered it and it got here this week. We finally had time to take it for a spin last night. It's hilarious! You should have seen me trying to slalom ski which is a Balance Practice thing. I was running into the signs, etc. I think it's going to be a lot of fun for the whole family. It has weight, BMI and goal tracking applications and a "trainer" who works with you and demos the different activities and exercises.
It's been a lot of fun.

A PSALM OF LIFE
WHAT THE HEART OF THE YOUNG MAN
SAID TO THE PSALMIST
TELL me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream ! —
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.
Life is real ! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal ;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.
Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way ;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than to-day.
Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.
In the world's broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle !
Be a hero in the strife !
Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant !
Let the dead Past bury its dead !
Act,— act in the living Present !
Heart within, and God o'erhead !
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time ;
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.
Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate ;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

 I had a crazy car day, yesterday! Penny (see my last blog) needed new tires. I decided to get up early to take it to Sam's at 7 to get it over with early so I had time to workout and school the girls before work. So I pack the girls up and we head to Sam's. It's like 40 degrees after being 80 on Sat! Anyway, I pick out the tires, pay for them and everything is going so well. No one in line, they pull my car right in, etc. Then I hear an announcement over the loud speaker...Pauline come to tire service. So the mechanic tells me 2 of the wheels have locking lug nuts on them...do I have the key? Never heard of locking lug nuts before. He says to go to Autozone and buy a key. In case you're wondering what the picture is, it's a locking lug nut key which I do not own! Now how safe would a locking lug nut be if any thief can go to Autozone and buy a key? I was doubtful about a car part store selling such a thing. Anyway, the lady at the counter suggested another car part store that is closer so I go load up my girls and we head out to Advanced Auto. No lug nut key. I call my husband at his work to get the phone number for Autozone. No, they don't sell them you have to go to the dealer... So I drive to the dealer who doesn't carry the part, "but if you have the original owners' manual, there's a number in it and we can special order it..." I really didn't think we'd have the owners' manual. I mean we're like the 3rd or 4th owner and the car was given to us. I told him I could go check to be sure but he said, "We could also knock the locking lug nuts off and put regular ones on. It'd only take a few minutes." OK, now we're cooking! So the girls and I go into the waiting room and well, wait...for like 45 minutes. But they finally pull it around and I'm off to Sam's where there is now a long line since business hours are over. But they finally finish and I'm out of there by noon! So it's straight to work for me. Brief lunch break. Work late (7:30) but head to the gym for my ST. I was really tired but I did it, so I'm happy!

 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
We've been a single car family for a while because we didn't have the funds to replace our second vehicle. We had been using our son's car while he was overseas but returned it to him in Dec. when he came safely home. Yippee!! Anyway, since Dec. I've been maneuvering our overlapping work schedules with one vehicle and trying to maintain our homeschooling schedule in addition to working which has created added challenges and many complications. Last Monday (3/17) a friend asked how she could be praying for me and I asked her to join me in praying for a second vehicle for us. "It will literally have to fall out of the sky into our laps," I said, "because we cannot afford even a klunker." Yesterday, my friend, who is also a co-worker with me at our church, called me to say that someone wanted to donate a car to an individual at our church! We called him and he asked if we wanted to take a look at it. We went to get the keys and he handed us the keys and the title and said, "It's yours if you want it!" We went and looked at it, started it up, drove it around the lot it was in, and came home the owners of a second car! We're going to try to get the paperwork, tags, and taxes, etc. taken care of today. I am so excited. God is amazing and He never ceases to surprise me in His creativity in providing for His children. It couldn't have been any closer to falling out of the sky!! The car's name is "Penny"!
