Goal Date

Well, today is my goal date, June 7, 2009. My goal was to be at 190 pounds by today. I started the beginning of the year at 222. Joined SparkPeople in late January at 219. I'm now at 192, two pounds short of my goal, for a total loss of 30 pounds in 5 months. I'll take that.

I would have made the goal, but I got a little less disciplined the last month. I slipped a little on the workouts, but a little more on the diet. I was still losing weight, but only a couple of pounds per month.

I still have some work to do though. I don't think I got in 5 fruits and veggies once in that time. I did 3 a lot. So still a work in progress. I also still have a few other diet issues, but my diet is hugely improved from what it was when I was gaining all my weight.

I want to thank everyone on my teams at SparkPeople for encouraging me and helping me to get this far. Without your help, it would have been much more difficult, if not impossible, to come this far in such a short time.

I usually don't blog, but I felt like I needed to write something on my goal date. Good luck to all my fellow Sparkers and keep up the great work! I guess I have to go think of some more goals now.

    You've done great!!! You lost over 13% of your body weight in just 5 months. That's a huge accomplishment. emoticon emoticon A good new goal would be to get in those fruits and vegetables at least one day a week, then 2 days a week, etc.

Fruits and Veggies

My diet and weight loss have gone very well since joining SparkPeople. I've lost 26 pounds, and only have about 6 to go. One thing I still need to work on is getting in my fruits and vegetables. I can usually get in 2 or 3 servings, but almost never 5. And if I don't make a point to eat fruits and vegetables, I'll get in 0 or 1 serving. Just one more goal I need to achieve. I've reached so many other goals, so I can certainly do this one too.

    I have the same goal...eating more fruits and veggies. I like fresh fruit..I buy a variety each week, not in big bags but individual fruits. it can be pricey but I buy what's on sale, small quantity and I eat all of it... no waste(usually)I also buy frozen birdseye or green giant single veggie servings... easy to pop in microwave. I also like to to add frozen veggies(stir-fry, etc) to those individual frozen meals...You must be doing something right. You are doing a great job...26lbs is fantastic weight loss for 5 months. emoticon emoticon

    I started having veggies and hummus for my snacks. The hummus adds protein and a lot of favor so it's not just a bag of carrots.

    Way to go, that's awesome! I had the same problem, until I decided to only pack fruit & veggie snacks in my lunch bag. Now in the mid-afternoon when I'd normally go "hunting" for chocolate, I eat fruit or carrots & celery w/ a little peanut butter.

Since you've done so well so far, I think you'll have no problems getting in those extra servings!
