My mom had a fantastic recipe for "spotted dog" which is a variation of the "spotted dick" only she made hers from scratch. It is simply a steamed pudding, like any other steamed pudding (think plum pudding) but gets it's name from the raisons which are like spots on a dalmation dog..........

But all the other pics, I think I would give up eating also if I ipened a can and saw any of that...... UG!

I'm with you jewels about the Fish Dentures in a can.....those Russian Herring must really be senior citizens! As for the CRAP in a can, well heck we are already eating rodent poo in the processed foods we buy at the store. Some of those food factories are not as clean as they should be. Another reason to cook FRESH and healthy at home. No Crap in a can for me!

So...aside from the tin of Spotted Dick...the rest just make sure I actually read the labels. Spotted Dick is a Brit pudding with a horrible name. Really good, with currants or raisins...served hot with warm custard...or my favourite, even less healthy, but tasty, brown sugar bourbon sauce. My favourite unhealthy Brit pudding is Sticky Toffee pudding...same idea...really good.

let me explain this show (i love it!)

about 10 'celebrities' (or half-celebrities, or those suffering financial difficulties) are flown in to a jungle camp for two weeks. the first week, viewers telephone in to vote which person has to complete the 'jungle test', which could be something adventurous, gooey or yukky, where they have to overcome fears or disgust or whatever. each 'star' they collect earns them some food for the evening. other than that they are only supplied with rice, beans and water.
the second week, the celebrities themselves vote who will do the test each day to earn the evening meal (or not!), and by then they are really starving, and viewers vote for who can stay in the camp; the one with the fewest votes has to leave. the last three are the 'finalists' on the last day, and the winner becomes the king (queen) of the jungle (and earns a lot more than the others).
they are filmed throughout this escapade and have to wear a microphone, so everything they say and do is caught on film, edited and shown each evening. characters really come through by the third day! there is a lot of bickering and gossip, revealing traumatic incidents, friend and foe finagling and so on.
i know the english and the germans send in celebrities, i'm sure other countries do as well. not australia? you're missing something!

i'm surprised, because it takes place in the jungles of australia!
they eat wild pig vagina, sheep brain, fish eyes, kangaroo penis, god-knows-what-anus, roasted cockroach, throw-up fruit, worms and other live insects.... the list goes on forever! this is reality tv!

The cats we foster don't want socks or undies! All they want is to be in my face. Or laying in front of the computer screen or running around my legs while I am in the bathroom. You have to wonder what kind of a life they had before nwe got them. They should know after 2 1/2 years that they are here for good but all I have to do is run to the store & when I get home you would think I had been away for a month.'But oh,, how I love every bit of them.
