Everyone, have a nice "labor" day .... and a day off too. It's Sunday, but it feels like a Saturday, cause we had a bbq yesterday with family. Was very nice to spend time, being that we have an extra day off from work this week!! Yay

Getting more excited about SparkFlorida Rally coming up in October. Theres a thread on the team page about it. Everyone from SparkFlorida is invited. Of course if you aren't a member of SparkFlorida and you are in the area, please join us. It's a potluck and you'll have to bring your own spoon, plate, drink, Healthy food dish to share with others, chair, sun block, sun glasses, jogging shoes, beach ball, beach blanket, you get the picture. Nothing is supplied, you bring all your own toys.

Hope to see all the team there. I know it won't happen that way, but I can dream! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Pool is open again!

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

emoticon

The Health Department has ok'd our swimming pool and I was back in this morning. Not too bad considering. Apparently the management knew there was a problem over a month ago and someone called the Health Department as it was apparent that nothing was going to get done without a shove. It's amazing what a uniform can do to people!

Anyway, it was cleanup and put back to gether in perfect operational order and passed in flying colors (you couldn't get any lower than it was) and back open for us within 24 hours.

I got up and went for a walk at 6am because I was sure I was not going to get to swim today. Yesterday I walked my dining room during my favorite TV show (I could see the TV from there and still get some walking in). My DH thought I was nuts, but I got over a quarter mile in that way. Beats the standing in place marching stuff. I mean, BORING in Diamonds!

Ever onward! Ghost! emoticon emoticon

I walk like that in my house with Wii Fit Plus program! Marching in place kills my knees and I agree-boring! But, I will do it if it calls for it on my DVD's, etc. Glad your pool is back up and running. emoticon

Yay! Glad to hear you can go back to the pool! Very innovative of you to do your "walk." D & I are always doing strength training or Wii Fit in the house. As long as we are all doing something, we're still on the journey!

You're not the only one with pool closure problems! And you've got some inventive alternatives. Check the new Water Aerobics Team thread and tell us about it!

Pool Closed by Health Department!

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Well, our pool was closed on Monday afternoon (got my time in before that) by the health department. Too many problems to list, but essentually, we were ordered to the showers to scrub ourselves. Yuk!

So, I went for the second time to the showers with shampoo, soap, towels, brushes, and a can of Lysol (for the shower, not me - the Lysol - the rest was for me). I washed my hair and scrubbed down better than a surgeon. I was clean the first time, but I was clean the second time more psychologically than physically.

This morning we were told it was not known when it would be open again. So for now, I'm hoofing it around the lake everyday at least once, if not more. Tonight I did a quarter mile back and fourth across the dining room. Boaring! I measured it and that's what it was. I want my pool back! (It's actually the community pool, but there are those of us that get our best exercise in that pool - at least I can walk the pavement while others cannot!)

Well, I need to wrap it up for the day! Whoa - SP is so slow tonight - I'm not even doing spell check - sorry!

That is so sad because all it takes is good pool maintenance! I'd be raising it with the management. They could have it back up to standards in no time. I hope y'all put pressure on them. I hate to say it but I'm glad I have my own properly maintained pool.
All the best....Monty

Potatoes!

Friday, August 26, 2011

I have made a blog in the past that said I was staying away from potatoes! I tried for quite awhile to do that, but then I got a little cocky and told myself they weren't so bad as long as I...Right! Well, I had a tiny baked one last night (1 oz) and was convinced by 12:30 am that they are not so harmless to me. I woke up with lower legs on fire and dripping wet all over and knowing it was the fault of the potato - correction - my fault, but due to the potato. I now know that I cannot eat them. I no longer love them, I don't hate them, but I don't love them either. So now I'm working on being stupidstubborn, which is different from stubborn by a stupid mile, but that isn't much.

Have a Sparkling one all! Live and learn, Pat! Live and learn! emoticon

Sorry to hear that! Sounds like an allergy to me. Did you know that the potato is a nightshade plant? They can cause allergies in people-one of them is me. Although I have an allergy to the tomatoes and green peppers, which are also nightshades. Check out this article-it is an eye opener:

Wow, I am so sorry to hear that. Do you have any idea why they do that to you?
I like potatoes, but I hardly ever eat them. They just seem really starchy to me. I have some really good ways to cook them, but I feel a heaviness on my stomach and I do not like that.....

Hope you feel better!!! emoticon

I found that they were overrated as well. I used to eat them 3 times a day sometimes but now I seldom have them.

Potatoes are not that good anyway! It's the stuff you put on them.

Your experiment worked! That's too bad you have to cut out potatoes. However I have anyway, they don't fit in with my low carb eating. I have to send apologies to my Irish ancestors though - they used potatoes a lot.
