FEELING STRESSED

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

I have been quite busy of late. I just haven't had time to take care of me. We have been doing a lot of work for our church. Things have finally settled down and now I am trying to get my spring cleaning done before the Easter weekend.
It seems like every time I try to do something, I end up having to go out and run and errand. I need to wash windows, clean my kitchen cupboards, etc., etc. My husband has been off this week, and he will be helping me, but it seems like we just can't seem to get things going. On top of that I got our lease renewal this morning, and our rent is going up a sizeable amount. That sure didn't help my stress levels. I need to go and start doing something so that I can burn off some of this stress. Even housework counts as a form of exercise, so I'll do what I can.
Hopefully things will look up tomorrow.

I am so sorry about your rent going up. I know that was a constant fear when I was renting. Of course, now other things scare me, the ones I have no control over. Exercise is a great soother. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I like the advice to take it one day at a time. I'll have to pay attention to that too. Try to get joy from the things that you can to take the edge off. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hang in there. No one will notice dirty windows! And as far as your rent going up....Someplace this craziness has got to end. But in the meantime remember that the Lord will provide. HE NEVER LETS US DOWN.

ARTHRITIS ACTING UP

Monday, March 22, 2010

I had a fairly busy weekend, but I wasn't so successful today. I didn't get everything done that I wanted to do. For one thing, my son decided to come over and spend a couple of days with us because he has no work for a few days. He works in construction and it is slow right now. Hopefully it will pick up soon. It was nice to spend some time with him today. He is going to stay with us for a couple of days. We went to pick him up, and then we did some shopping. I was going to go out for a walk, but my Arthritis is acting up today and I am in a lot of pain. I hope I am feeling better tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to get out and go for a short walk at least. I have been watching what I eat at least, and I have not gained any weight. I do need to get moving more though. Oh, well, one day at a time. If I can't get out to walk I will do some housework and try to make it a little challenging so that I get a bit of a workout at least.

Ugh. I feel for you. That pain can really be demoralizing and exhausting. Fortunately, if I do have some arthritis, it doesn't give me much trouble.....well that I'll admit to. My knees act up, my shoulder stiffens, my back hurts. Crimeny! What next?

I do hope that it subsides soon and you can get back to walking. Actually, that is one reason I started biking. It isn't as hard on my joints as walking or hiking. But I still like to hike!!

Take care.

ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY

Sunday, March 21, 2010

The weather was so nice today. I really enjoyed going out to church this morning. It is beginning to really feel like Spring. Tomorrow calls for more fairly warm weather, but with a chance of showers. Towards the end of the week the weather is going to get cooler again. Oh well, it's just typical Manitoba weather. I am enjoying each nice day I get. I am hoping to get out and walk tomorrow before it starts to rain.
I had so much fun last night at our bingo bowl. I have never done that before, so it was a new experience. It sure is different trying to get the birthday candles to stay up so that you can add 11 points, or trying to just get the 2 pin without knocking any others down. It was so much fun. It took us over 2 hours to play 2 games. I hope we get to do that again.

COMPUTER RUNNING AGAIN

Saturday, March 20, 2010

I am so happy to have my computer working again. It shut down on my last Monday evening while I was trying to check my e-mails. My son finally repaired it for me yesterday. I am so happy he is so good at working with electronics, even though he never had any training in it. It is just something that comes naturally to him. He just does things like that to make a little extra money and to help people out. When I went back on my computer last night I found 130 e-mail messages waiting for me. I managed to clean that up and now things are back to normal. I managed to get out for a short walk on Thursday. I walked about 3 1/2 miles. I would have walked farther, but it was very windy and cold, so I decided to call it a day. Now that there is no more snow and ice on the sidewalks I can get out and walk more often. I am looking forward to getting out this week and get back to my 7-mile walks.
I have been trying to watch what I eat, even though I haven't been able to track it for the last few days. I know I had gained some weight over the Christmas period, and I haven't weighed myself since then. I got brave this morning and stepped on the scale. I found that I had not gained any weight, but I had actually lost another two pounds since the last time I weighed myself. That sure made me feel good and gave me the added incentive of getting back on track with eating healthy and exercising. I am going bingo bowling this evening, so that should add to the exercise as well. I will also do some strengthening exercises later today.
I am hoping to be able to lose another 20 pounds by the middle of June. I think that is doable. If I manage to lose a little more, it will be a bonus. It turned out to be a wonderful day for me today. My husband and I spent the day just shopping and enjoying ourselves. We didn't have anything specific to shop for, we just wanted to get out and enjoy the day. Tonight we are going bingo bowling with our Small Group from Church after going to one couple's home for a pot-luck of appetizers. All in all it is turning out to be a great day.

What a gift this day has been for you. It makes my heart sing when others have days like that and also gives me hope. Enjoy your bingo bowling and bowl one for me!

WOMEN'S ENRICHMENT DAY

Saturday, March 13, 2010

Today was a beautiful day. The temperature was above normal and the SUN WAS SHINING. THERE WERE BLUE SKIES. I haven't seen the sunshine in almost a week, so I was really happy. It was so warm I didn't even need a coat this afternoon. It sure lifted my spirits.
Today we had a Women's Enrichment Day at our church. We had about 125 - 130 women come out for a day of connecting and getting some teaching via a video by Lisa Bevere.
It started off with breakfast of muffins and coffee/tea/fruit punch, and included a lunch of soup, sandwiches, fruit salad and desserts. The teaching was about Mothers, Daughters and Grandmothers, and how the older generations should reach out to the younger generations and connect with them. We also had time for worship in songs of praise.
All in all it was a wonderful day. It took a lot of work, but with many of us working together and supporting each other, it went very smoothly. I feel so truly blessed.
