3 weeks ago, I started counting calories and exercising 4 or more times a week. The first week I lost 5 pounds. I had grand expectations that I would, at the very least, be down 10 pounds by June 1st. Sadly, my body decided that 5 pounds is all that will be leaving for the month of May. I have been making sure that my workouts are productive by keeping my heart rate in the range of 80 to 90% max, so I know that my cardio is greatly improving. Yesterday, after doing my insanity video in the morning, I jogged/walked over 3 miles that evening in 45 minutes. I feel like the pounds should be flying off. Instead, my calves are super sore and the scale isn't budging. I think I will cut out the sprouted grain bread, cereals, and udon noodles from my diet this week and consume only protein, veggies and dairy (just for this next week) to see what happens. I will still have an Idealshape shake each day. I know that my body is replacing fat with muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat, and so on, but I really need to start seeing some results on the scale. My swimsuit needs to fit July 1st, and I truly hope I can somehow lose 8 -10 pounds by then. Otherwise, I will be wearing the mumu from Hawaii (it isn't very flattering) that my mom brought to me as a gift, while I am at the lake.

I've started taking Raspberry Ketones and I figure if Dr. Oz says that they will help reduce fat, then I've got nothing to lose by trying them (except for some money & hopefully poundage). Today is day 2 of taking the supplement. I've got 6 months before hitting 40 and I would like to be in a healthy BMI range by then. My bmi is currently 29, I would like to lose 20 pounds to be in a normal bmi range, then I would be within 15 pounds of my goal weight. I guess we will see how it goes.
Update: 5/8/2013 - Started again giving the ketones a chance. I didn't make it very far on my first attempt (lots of excuses, but no really GOOD ones). I feel like I can really commit to taking them now since I have my summer off to focus on myself and my family. Looking forward to seeing how well the Raspberry ketones work, started taking them yesterday (5/7/2013).

My husband and I are still making progress! I'm so happy that we haven't given up yet. We actually joined a health club at the beginning of February and we have been going about 4 times a week. I am finally seeing some good results, and so is he. For the last week I have been closely watching my calories and finally the lbs are starting to drop. I'm reading the Biggest Loser book and it is giving me a lot of ideas and tips. We are planning to run an 8k next month which we've never done before. It should be interesting to say the least! I'm trying to spend less time on the computer, so my updates and status will probably be lacking because I'll be out exercising instead. Sparkpeople has given me so much motivation though, so I'll never be very far away. I will check in at least once a month and update. Thanks Sparkpeople!

Just did 30 minutes of cardio and day 2 of bootcamp and I cannot believe how exhausted I am! Man, I hope I have more energy tomorrow. Maybe I didn't consume enough carbs today? I don't know what it was, but it felt like I had lead in my running shoes while jogging on the treadmill (it's probably in the "trunk", not in my shoes at all). Tomorrow can only be better!

I'm so excited. My husband has accepted a challenge!!! We are going to see who can lose the most weight over the next 3 months. I've always been alone in my battle to lose weight, but now that I have him on board, I'm hoping it will help keep me motivated. Of course, I got him to commit with some bribery. I said, "Whoever wins, gets to buy themselves an expensive gift." Yesterday he said he was going to buy himself a new waterski, when "he wins". Today he said he wants to change his prize to a "snowmobile". It took me a while to come up with a prize for myself, if I should win. I decided to choose a tanning bed. My husband always seems to drop weight quickly, once he puts his mind to it. The only way I will win is if he loses his resolve after the first month. Either way, no matter who wins in the end, if we each lose weight we will both be winners!
