Vacation/Holiday weight gain

Thursday, January 05, 2012

I gained 15lbs in December! emoticon Yes you heard me right 15lbs in one month. emoticon I did not even know it was possible to gain that much weight in one month. I gained 11lbs from my cruise and the other 4lbs from the holidays.

On the plus side I did have a WONDERFUL vacation!!! emoticon I did stay active for the most part. I took a yoga class on the ship and I did a bunch of excursions on the islands. I went zip lining and kayaking for the first time which was a blast. I also went snorkeling and four wheeling. I guess the 11lbs came from all the yummy food I ate. emoticon

I also had a great holiday! emoticon I got to spend lots of time with my family and once again ate lots of yummy food.

So as of the new year it's time to get back on track! I was already to go and came down with a stomach bug. emoticon I did lose 4lbs the past two days, but that was due from not being able to eat and when I did not being able to keep it down. I'm feeling much better today and I'm ready to go! I brought my healthy food with me to work and have my gym bag packed for after work! emoticon

I was not going to blog about my weight gain. I was pretty embarrassed about gaining 15lbs. in one month. And then I got to thinking this is what Sparkpeople is all about. Helping each other through our ups and down. I always blog about the ups but not so much about the downs. The important part is that I know I will pick myself back up again and get back on track.

So last month was not a healthy one, and the new year started off a little rocky from being sick, but not it's time to get my butt in gear! emoticonI'm ready to do this!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and is enjoying the new year!!! emoticon emoticon

:) I can SO relate to gaining weight on cruises. I always have a good plan to start out with, but with all the free and delicious food, soon I'm eating two plates for breakfast, drinking Pina Coladas all day, and eating dessert with lunch AND dinner. Plus, even though we try to make it to the gym every morning, most of the day is sitting around drinking and soaking up the sun :) But that's what vacations are all about...relaxing, having fun, and not worrying about weight gain. I'm glad you have rebounded and are back on a healthy track. That extra 15 will be gone in no time!

isn't amazing how fast we can gain weight!?! i hate that!!?! i have one bad week and i'm up like 5 lbs, it's insane!!! jumping back on the wagon is what is important and i'm sure you know what to do!! now i'm a bit afraid to ever take a cruise though, lol.

I gained about 10 pounds over late Nov./Dec. I was going back 2 years on my Spark summary calendar, and looking over my "pattern" of weight loss and then gain. It was a real eye opener to be able to look back at the weight fluctuation and also where I stopped logging my food...it really showed me where my problems are! emoticon

You shouldn't be embarrassed to share your life journey. We will all have ups and downs but we are all in this game of life together. I am sure you will lose a few pounds when you get back on track.

I gained15 in a couple months this summer. It comes on very fast and comes off much more slowly. You can get it off again, no doubt!

It is CRAZY how fast the weight can come back on...when we lose it so slowly. I see it as akin to swimming in a river with a current. We are swimming against the current...so it's slow going...but if we turn around and swim with the current, whoosh, we can really get there fast. Unfortunately, "there" is weight gain. Glad you have turned around and are bucking that current again. You've come to right place. SP is so wonderful, in that, even though we are swimming against the current, we are all doing it together and it really makes it easier. Keep up the good work! Thanks for your encouragement! Spark on! emoticon P.S. Vacation and the holidays are my two downfalls, too...at least we now know our danger zones and can work to make it through them better in the future. emoticon

I am so glad that you have shared this as its reassuring to know that even though you gained you are still committed to losing weight & being healthy which is what I need to be reminded of. I also gained weight throughout December (3lbs in the week before Xmas and another 4lbs over Xmas) I haven't lost any weight since then but I also haven't been exercising much either so its not a mystery!
Thanks for being here on SP, We can do it!! emoticon

I am glad that you enjoyed your holiday and vacation. Enjoying your vacation is really almost as important as being healthy. I don't know how many times I went on vacation with the thought that I was going to eat super healthy. Well it kept me from enjoying the trip bc I was too focused on what I should and shouldn't eat.
We are done with holidays for a while and it's a good time to get back on track. I'm rooting for you!

I actually just commented about this on one of your pictures! I went on a cruise last June w/my hubby and OMG it was horrendous. I gained about 6 lbs on that damn cruise! Lol. Those endless lines of buffets and 24/7 drinks just get to you! But oh well! Time of your life and doesn't occur to often you just get away and enjoy yourself & spouse, right??

Cool you had a great holiday! Seems like you had a really great time on the cruise and got some yoga in too- thats great! Dont feel bad about the weight gain though, we all fall off the wagon from time to time. I also gained, but I must admit, it was fun doing the gaining..lol. Alright, now back to the workouts with both of us:) emoticon

Vacation!!!

Thursday, December 01, 2011

As of tomorrow at 4:30p.m. I will officially be in vacation mode!!! emoticon On Monday I leave for my cruise. emoticon We will be making stops in Labadee, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. John's, and Tortola. It's just me and my husband going and we have never visited any of these places before so we are very excited. emoticon

Getting in my exercise should be easy, there is a gym on the ship and they offer fitness classes. emoticon We also booked some excursions such as four wheeling, zip lining, and snorkeling so I know we will stay active. The hardest part is going to be watching what I eat. emoticon I'm not going to stress about it to much though. I figure as long as a stay active I can enjoy the food as long as I don't go to crazy.

I feel pretty good about where I am at right now with wearing a bathing suite. I would like to be down a few more pounds but I'm not going to stress about that either. My husband is happy with how I look so it should not matter what anyone else thinks.

So after tomorrow I probably won't be able to Spark again until I get back.! emoticon I will miss all of my Spark friends! I really appreciate each and every one of you.!!! Everyone I have met on this site has been so wonderful and supportive! Thank You!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Compliments!!!

Thursday, November 10, 2011

Last week in my boot camp class while doing our ab workout the teacher came over to me and said into her microphone "everyone stop what you are doing and look at Jen. This is the correct way to do this move and everyone should do it the way Jen is doing it." This is a teacher who never does that she is a very tough drill sergeant type. I was so embarrassed but it also made me feel really good at the same time. Of course some of the people I know from class are still teasing me and saying they need to be more like Jen.

Then last Fri. after my yoga class the teacher told me how good my poses were. She said she would like to point me out in class to show everyone the correct way to hold a pose but she does not want to embarrass me. emoticon

Last night as I was leaving the gym one of the girls in my R.I.P.P.E.D class stopped me in the parking lot to compliment me on how hard I worked in class. She then asked me how old I was and I told her I just turned 31. She thought I was joking and had though I was her age 26 or younger. What a great compliment! emoticon

So it looks like all this hard work is paying off. I have not noticed a big difference on the scale but I have been getting a lot of compliments and my clothes are definitely getting baggy . emoticonOn top of that I just feel really great. Whenever I get off track I end up feeling like crap. I can definitely tell I big difference in the way I feel when I eat the right foods and keep up with my workouts.

Thanks for all of the support I would not of made it this far without all of my Sparkfriends!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jasmine

Thursday, October 13, 2011

So I have to say I have had a pretty good week as far as my nutrition and exercising. I have got in some form of exercise everyday this week and have done well with my eating as well except for Tue.

On Monday night my beagle Jasmine passed away. She was 13yrs. old and had not been doing so well for the past week so we knew it was coming. Even though I was semi prepared for it I was devastated. I know it was for the best though she was starting to have problems getting around and she was also losing her hearing and eye sight. I'm just glad I was with her when she passed so I could tell her one last time that I loved her.

So needless to say I did not make it to the gym on Tue. and I was craving comfort food so I ordered pizza for dinner and spent the evening on the couch curled up with my other two fur babies eating and watching my favorite t.v. show. As of yesterday I am back on track back to the gym and tracking my food.

I hope everyone is doing well!!!

1st Progress picture

Friday, October 07, 2011

I finally worked up the nerve to post a picture of myself in a bikini eek!!! I have been doing really well the past week, but prier to that I was on a slippery slope. I was still getting in my regular workouts I just could not seem to stay away from all the junk food. I'm hoping that by posting progress pictures every two weeks it will help me to stay on track. I'm going on a cruise with my husband in the beginning of Dec. and I want to feel confident and sexy in my tiny bikini. I don't want to have to worry about people seeing me and thinking what is she doing wearing that. So my goal is to lose about 5-10 more lbs. but mostly I want to tone up and have some sexy definition especially in my abs. Hopefully I can accomplish this by Dec.

I hope everyone had a great week and has a wonderful weekend!!!
