The good and the bad

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Lately I have been off and on with my healthy eating and exercising. emoticon This past week I did pretty good until the weekend. I always go down hill on the weekends. It seems like a keep losing and regaining the same 5 lbs. emoticon Lose it during the week, gain it back on the weekend. I have also been taking a lot of mini vacations which is hard on my healthy habits.

On a good note I did receive several compliments today. emoticon While at the gym this morning another gym member told me that I looked like I had lost weight and looked really good. Then when I got to work I had a co-worker tell me that I looked like I had slimmed down and was looking good. emoticon

I don't have any more long weekends or vacations coming up until December so the next two months should be easier to stay on track and keep those 5lbs plus some more off for good. emoticon

I'm not doing too well at all. I do okay part of the day and then blow it. So I'm much worse off than you. It sounds like you should do okay now.

You know what you could probably do? Have a weigh in on Mondays so you can be accountable during the weekends. I bet that made you feel awesome when you received that complement!! Live it up girl!!

Maybe you need to make a plan for the weekends that'll diffuse what's been happening. Maybe some healthier alternatives to the choices that you have been making. emoticon

size is not everything

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

On Friday I went on a hike with my husband, brother, sister in law, and our two friends. emoticon My sister-in law and one friend don't have to watch what they eat or exercise and somehow still manage to stay a size 2. Unlike me who has to watch everything that goes into my mouth and can only dream of being a size 2. So anyway we went on a nice hike Fri. nothing to strenuous just a relaxing hike with a few small hills. emoticon Well the next day my sister in law and friend were both complaining about how sore they were from the hike. I felt nothing, no pain , no soreness, nothing. emoticon The hike was baby play from my normal routine. emoticon The same thing happened earlier in the summer when we went on a bike ride. emoticon My sister in law ended up pushing her bike up all the steep hills while I was able to make it to the top on my bike. Sometimes I am so envious of my sister in law because she is so tiny and beautiful and she does not even have to work at it. While I get up before the sun to go to the gym and track every calorie that goes into my mouth. But now I can really see where that is paying off I may not be a size 2 but I have something my sister in law and friend do not I have strength and endurance and there is no way I would ever trade that in to be a size 2. ! emoticonSo I guess it really is true size is not everything emoticon

So true! I grew up the chubby/fat person in a family of naturally thin people. Now I realize that size really is not important (as you say) and that being thin doesn't necessarily make you healthy. What a great experience for you to have! Keep up the great work! emoticon

How great that you are able to have that stamina plus have the figure you do have. Congratulations--being healthy is priceless. Being a size 2 changes with age--it becomes a larger size because gravity takes over.

This is a great upbeat blog ! You're quite correct. Being a certain size doesn't mean you're in shape. I know women who are a size 0-2. They have amazing figures and you know what ? They couldn't do a push up if their life depended on it. they may be a size 2, but they aren't fit.

Good health and fitness really does come in many different shapes and sizes !

I finally bought a juicer!!!

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

I finally bought a juicer last week after hearing all the great health benefits of juicing vegetables. emoticonI'm so excited to make it a daily part of my routine. I already tried juicing some peaches, pineapple, and strawberries. emoticonIt was very yummy and all natural!!! I then juiced some spinach and carrots. emoticonIt was not the best tasting, but I know it's super healthy so that makes it a little easier to drink. My co-worker brought me in two books on juicing that have lots of yummy sounding recipes, so I copied a bunch of them down and am looking forward to going to the grocery store tomorrow so I can load up on vegetables and juice away. emoticon

I have a VitaMix blender/mixer so I juice the whole fruit and benefit from the fiber. Add some fruit like apples, oranges, plums, pineapple, etc. to your vegie juice to make it tastier. Part of the fun is coming up with new mixtures but you'll find that some are just yucky but you can rescue them with some spices. Happy tasting! Oh, almost forgot, an immersion blender/mixer works well too.

I ruined my good weekend streak!!!

Monday, August 15, 2011

I ruined my good weekend streak! emoticon Fri. evening I baked a cake and snacked on it all day Sat. and Sun. We also ended up ordering out from the pizza shop for dinner on Sat. and lunch on Sun. and I did not make good food choices. emoticon To top it all of I did not get in any exercise over the weekend. And trust me this all showed on the scale when i weighed myself this morning. emoticonBut on a good note I got up this morning and did a 15min. ab workout, then I went to the gym for a 60min. cycling class, and then followed that up with 15min. in the weight room. emoticon So here is to a wonderful healthy week!!! emoticon

Hopefully I do better this next weekend, but it's going to be a tough one it's my husbands birthday and we are going camping with my family. emoticon I just have to remember how crappy I feel when I make bad choices and hopefully that will be enough to keep me on track.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!!! emoticon

It's ok!!!!! No matter what, you are on the right track.

You are going camping????!!!!! Awesome! Camping usually includes some hiking- that will help out! If not, a few strolls around the campground will work too. Have a good time on your trip!

One of the reasons emoticonis the fact that it includes falls and knowledge of recovery from them. Enjoy your 4-day weekend without the stress of achieving perfection. You can always get back on track and continue your journey.

On our way to perfection, every day life gets in the way... So, we take the days we don't do so well along with all the days when we do our very best and we find the balance.

As long as you don't eat cake as the meal for every meal, you can get back on track in no time. And, look what you did this morning. So, go easy on yourself, sistah!

another healty weekend!!!

Monday, August 08, 2011

I made it through another great weekend! emoticon That's two weekends in a row and this one was even better than the last. Not only did I stay within my calorie range both days but I also worked out. On Sat. I did 60min. of yoga warrior it was a lot more challenging than I thought it would be. emoticonOn Sun. I ran 4 miles my longest run yet. emoticonWhen I weighed myself Sun. morning I was down 1.8lbs. I am now at my lowest weight for this year. emoticonAfter work me and my husband are having a date night so I went on line and looked up the restaurant we are going to and already planned out my meal so that it fits in my calorie range and it's still a yummy meal that I am looking forward to. After dinner we are going to the movies and I am going to take in my own healthy snack so I'm not temped to buy any junk.

I hope everyone has a wonderful healthy week!!! emoticon
