My idea of music is country,70's and 80's. Need to get with it right? Not to mention the boredom factor of same ole same ole. Here is what I have so far , some of these I never heard of lol. I will be honest, I don't like rap so a few of these will be gone Feb1st, however I did commit to using this list for January.

Not just a workout, it's about being ACTIVE

In the past I would do my hour exercise , then make friends with my computer chair.


In April 2011,I bought a Fitbit Ultra.Made a huge difference in my activity level.Walking,running and biking are all in addition to my 6 day a week workout. My 50 + metabolism needs all the help it can get.

Besides the workout,what extra activity can you add today?

    I got the same jolt when I started working a pedometer. My data loads into my computer and I realized ALL my aerobic activitiy was in one hour a day! Late in the day at that! It's made me rev up this metabolism with "sparks" of aerobic activity throughtout the day; it's made a huge difference! Even if it's a 10-20 in house walk or a hoop break! Today it will be some serious clearing and pruning in the garden. But a morning walk too. It is about building activity into my lifestyle; workouts are just part of that! We're on the same page. Happy to have you for a friend!

    I have a little bitty upper/lower body cycle I bought at Kmart for about 30 dollars, I have it under my desk. It adds to my 'neat' score. Its not really exercise, its just great for when I'm on the phone, watching training videos, or doing some other kind of computer work. It helps keep my circulation up.

    I spend a lot of time sitting at my computer :( But today I did a bunch of dishes and cleaned out all of the cabinets in my bathroom. Tomorrow I will be cleaning that same bathroom from the top down, so there's a little extra work for me :)

    I use my Bowflex and Elliptical and have several yoga videos to chose routines from. Also, I take advantage of the SparkPeople exercise videos to target certain things.

However, today I am on Day 3 of a paint-a-thon. In the next week or so, and the weather permits, I'll get busy hauling away the downed limbs and debris from the winter storms that's cluttering the 1 acre fenced area around the house.

    I have had problems with the ultra (on my 2nd replacement of the first 5 months) but still plan on getting a One when the time comes.

I agree: it truly is the little things. I noticed recently (all at my job are older than I) that the healthier LOOKING (can't say innards) people are the ones you see moving around. The ones stuck in their chairs more, not so much.

As for me? I have a dog. :)

    I just got my fitbit one, and love it! It doesn't have a HRM, so I still use my Polar for my workouts, but it does show different levels of activity to estimate the calorie burn, I believe by how fast you are moving.

Being active is so important, I can relate to getting up and moving more with the encouragement of this little device!

    I'm looking into getting a FitBit. I'm wondering how it measures intensity levels to compute your calories burned. It doesn't have a heart rate monitor does it? I need to do more research, but all of you happy users must be onto something.

Yes, activity throughout the day is so important. They say "Sitting is the New Smoking" and detrimental to health even if we workout regularly.

    Excellent blog. I try to move as much as I can during the day besides my workouts. I take a lot of stairs a few times a day. I walk line I am in a hurry when I run errands and I take walking breaks a couple times a day at work.

I agree, it's about staying active during the day BESIDES the workouts!

    I got a pedometer before SP started touting the FitBit, and it's made a big difference in my average activity level. It doesn't matter so much on days when I'm working out or running, but it gets me out moving on days when I would otherwise be mostly sedentary. Without that pedometer ratting on me, I wouldn't have realized that by 3 PM on a Sunday it's easy to only have 3000 steps instead of the 8000 or 9000 that would be normal by then on a weekday. And when I see that low number, I go out and do something to correct it.

Just did my final weigh in for 2012! 7 months in my goal range.I have never done that.In my yoyo dieting career I would lose then right back to my old habits.This time I got to a lower weight that is worth the sweat to remain at.
