Welp, I'm an "Emotional Eater"

Monday, March 25, 2013

So I've been doing ok on SP but not blogging or being a part of the social aspect (which I know is key). This is the first step in my attempt to be better!

I just took the Diet Personality Quiz and was found to be an "Emotional Eater". This I knew. I eat not only when I'm hungry but when I'm tired, bored, sad, watching tv.... and so on. They recommended choosing one goal at a time and sticking with it for up to 8 weeks. This is new info for me. I usually choose many goals and try to go for 2 weeks straight before calling it a success and moving on. Obviously, as my current weight/size/body image is not great, this is not working. The example goal they had was drinking 8 glasses of water a day. This was actually something I got super good at on my first round on SP and have stuck with since. It's the rare day now that I don't drink at least 8 cups of water.

So this leaves me stuck. I'm not sure what my first goal should be. I don't really eat "bad" food that often, so I can't just stop eating chips and look for weight loss. Anyone have any suggestions?

It's the chips that get me, too. I'm up 1.5 pounds and am hoping that all of the salt is the culprit. Maybe you could make it a goal to read and comment on the blogs and/or contribute by blogging regularly.

Goal could be to be sure to eat maybe one healthy meal a day.

Day 1 of the rest of my life!

Sunday, March 03, 2013

Hello SparkPeople!

I'm an old hand at SP. I joined a couple of years ago and had great success. I met my goal weight and became the kind of healthy person I want to be. What happened? I dropped off of SP and let life, stress and other valid reasons, but still excuses, get me down.

I've decided to restart and refine my SP experience. I don't know exactly what that means yet in the long term, but I'm excited to read other blogs and articles and figure it all out. Short term? Here are my goals for this week:
1: Drink 8 or more glasses of water a day
2: Track every day- even if I don't like the numbers!

Just 2 this week! Little by little! I'm excited and can't wait to get started! Here we go!

    YOU can do this!

welcome back - I do not blog as often and sometimes I miss a day or two BUT I track my water, fresh fruits and veggies AND my cardio.

My dear hubbie over Thanksgiving-Christmas gained - I actually went into 2013 weighting 2 pounds LESS than 2012 and considering the stress I have been under that was an awesome thing to see

My husband especially really wants to deal with his weight gain and I am now spearheading a DAILY walk - we started out small and now are up to just about 2 miles within a half hour window - hoping by the end of this week - that will be up to 2/12 miles and whatever time it takes

WE ARE LOVING the walk time for two reason - A. I live next door to my 87 year old and although he is in good shape he depends on us SO that walk gives us much needed DOWNTIME every day and B. Our 30 year old son moved back home and will be getting married soon SO again we have our ALONE time
BETTER YET we are working towards a healthier us!!

Down about 56 pounds and have about 23 to go! Cannot wait till I am in the ONEDER UNDER CLUB

If I can be of any encouragement PLEASE let me know!
