Food Troubles

Thursday, November 06, 2014

My husband and I are currently staying at my in-laws house and doing some work to help out. Since we are in a small town with a limited choice of food, I eat what is cooked. I'm eating highly processed foods. My mother in law does the shopping and the cooking (except breakfast) and she is so kind and considerate but adamant about her way of doing things. There is a Wal-Mart with a limited deli and when I asked for uncured ham the guy looked aghast and refused to believe there was such a thing. just feeling a little discouraged.

my family pretty much knows what i avoid and what i eat. whatever the situation i will bring a few dishes of my own to make sure there's something that i can eat which is never a problem for anyone since they can eat it too.

if it were me... i'd let my inlaws, especially MIL, know that i'm going to the grocers to pick up a few things for thanksgiving and ask if there's anything they'd want for me to pick up for them. that way they'll know to expect i'll be making a few dishes of my own. i'm sure even in a small town, there's still some dishes you can make to bring it close to paleo. all the best! emoticon

This is my biggest fear! Going somewhere and not even having the choice of what or how to eat! Good luck and do the best you can!

Successful Milestone

Wednesday, September 24, 2014

Today was a great day (after I got over a bad attitude). I have been practicing toes to bar for about a month now with little success and today after a workout I walked up to some high rings my husband was using to practice muscles and jumped for them. I grabbed them, and went straight to toes through rings, more than once. I was so excited and yes, I went to the bar and did a couple toes to bar. It doesn't seem like much to those not in Crossfit but it was major to me.

This shows a a swing into it and in the background some ladies completeing the movement

Found this pic which shows the move more up close. Maybe I'll get my husband to record me doing it.

Recovery In Progress

Sunday, July 06, 2014

I damaged both legs in an attempt at 30 inch box jump. It was a bad fail and cost five stitches and some nerve damage, but there out and I'm okay to get back into the box (slowly at first). It has kind o gotten me down a bit about my lack of fitness minutes, so I have been trying to do more movement at home in between times of propping my leg up. I'm hoping that I can get back into the swing of things soon. Some parts are still tender and so I'm careful. I've also had some other stress that I just haven't figured out how to deal with yet. I'm still eating healthy and aiming for my 5% goal.

I tried the big one, ouch

I still love crossfit

This is similar to the one I used

I am not even close to the 30 inch. I honestly have a fear of the damn box. I'm working up to them though! I'm sorry you got hurt!! Hopefully recovery will be speedy and you will be back in no time

HOLY MOLY lady! You are the bravest lady I know for even trying 30" box - seriously that's 1/2 of me - I'm only 61" tall. I am so glad to hear you are recovering ok! nerve damage and stitches are NOT fun!

Oh man, OUCH. Kudos for having the fitness to try it. I've seen it done before, but not sure I have the oomph to try it myself. Hope you get back to it soon!

Getting Realistic and a New Journal

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

emoticon emoticon
Recently I caught a cold and I had some minor discomfort with my COPD. This time I didn't feel like giving in, even though I knew it could be a while before I exercised again. Although this may sound silly I was excited about a new journal.

I recently started crossfit to help me in trail running and I really enjoy it. A lady said to take a picture and keep track of my progress. My husband bought me a journal that I decorated with stickers and such. I also wrote down my results from testing week to compare with the next time. Today was my first day back exercising and I walked only but it was so exciting to make a memory in my new fitness journal. I'm so thankful to Jesus for so much.

Journalling keeps me accountable, focused and is fun! Important to do it consistently & review every so often, (more often if your memory is short like mine! :)
Hope you get over your cold quickly.

Sounds like a plan! I had a fitness calendar but I've slacked off on it. I may try the journal again. Sounds fun! Love your background!
