A cashier at the local grocery store I frequent has always been friendly and excellent at her job. During one of my times at the check out, she mentioned her little dog was ill. As I would see her over the next few weeks, I would inquire to the status of her dog's health. She said she has 2 dogs, and what she thought was "old age" issues with the first dog (17 years old) was now showing up in her 3 year old dog as well. That was last week. I had to get a few things for dinner tonight, and had the opportunity to ask about her 4 legged "buddies". With tears running down her face, she told me she had to "put them both down today"... and really needed to take a break. I felt so sad for her, I have had to put down a few of my precious pets (kids to me).. so I can't even imagine having to lose 2 at once, and then go to work on top of it. I gave her my sincere apologies and heartfelt words, but it is so hard to share that in a 2 minute visit at the check out. Tonight I will say a prayer for her,,, her name is Hope, and maybe if you get a chance you can say one for her as well.
