Excited

Thursday, April 19, 2012

I know I have mentioned it many times about our plans to move to Az. The sale of our home was delayed a few months as it was supposed to close in February. It now is looking for early Summer. I am so anxious. Nicole, my youngest daughter (She is the one who got me going on Spark) lives there and we have so many plans once we are living there. Nicole and I are going to work out together and take on some marathons as well as what else we can find. Today, we have discussed some of these ideas and it makes me all the more excited to get going. Woo hoo! Hugs to all you Amazing Spark Friends!

Another update on the baby Raccoons

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

I called the WIldlife Organization today to get an update on the babies. They informed me that they are all girls, they weighed in at 109, 120 and 122 grams. They are eating well and so that was such good news to me. I asked if it was a bother if I called every now and again for an update, and they were fine and actually suggesting me to do that. When they are about 6 months of age, they will be brought back here and released. I have such respect for what these people do to aid in the sick , injured or abandoned wild life. I hope each of you has an awesome Wednesday! Hugs to all!! Kathy

I bet the baby that the mother took was a boy. To me this would be the ideal job. I checked into it here and there is no pay for it nor reimbursement so it can be quite expensive.

So glad to hear that the babies are all doing well. That is GREAT news! THANK YOU for rescuing them and taking them to the Wildlife Organization. We had three baby squirrels in our wood burning stove a few years ago. I took them to a nature center where they were taken care of for a few months and then released. Like you, I called several times to check on them to make sure they were doing OK. I was so happy that we'd found them in time to save them.

HUGS

UpDate on Babies...

Monday, April 16, 2012

Sadly to say, Momma Raccoon never returned! We took the 3 babies to the WIld Life Organization in our area. They will hand feed these tiny little ones and once they are old enough, they will return them to our area once again. I am sad that they were not reunited with the Mom, but am grateful that 1 is with her. It was a long night (up till 4 caring for these and watching for Mommy). I think we will sleep good tonight knowing they are in a safe place getting the care and treatment they need to get the best chance at a healthy life. Hugs to all.... I am off to bed. emoticon

You are such a good person and will be blessed - the little raccoons are lucky they were in your area for you to be there to take care of them and take them to the appropriate place.

You are emoticon

There must have been some reason she didn't return. It sounds like they are in good hands.

Baby Raccoon's

Sunday, April 15, 2012

A Mother Raccoon decided to have her litter in the attic of one of my apartments I manage. She found her way there through a hole in the roof that she made. We found her and her 4 "just born" cuties. We had to remove them though as we have rain coming tomorrow evening and we have to close the hole in the roof to protect my tenant in the unit beneath. I contacted the local WIld Life and he told me to put the babies in a shallow box near the tree Momma had climbed. After a few hours Momma came and took 1 of the babies. Since then, the temp has dropped so we had to put a heating pad under a towel and under the babies to keep them warm. The wild life person also told me to keep them outside as Momma will return for them. I sure hope so,,, It is supposed to get down in the low 40's tonight,, and we keep watching for cats and other animals for the little babies safety. I sure hope he is right and they make it till the Mother returns. Mother Nature can be so tough to watch.. not an easy life for these creatures. I am such an animal lover and it is taking everything I have to not bring them in the house and care for them,,,, but I know this is best... come on Momma Raccoon, Your babies are hungry!! I will update tomorrow on the status of these adorably cute babies. Hugs,,,, Kathy emoticon
