3 miles of interval training (walk/jog/walk/jog to raise & lower the heart rate) this afternoon and then jumped in the workout room and pushed play on Chalene Extreme's Extreme Core Circuit. There's a serious amount of ab work tucked into those 12 minutes! LOL And, I even ate healthy all day (Shakeology for breakfast, banana/peanut butter wrap for lunch), ending the day with a grilled porkchop, zucchini, and snap peas (all of those leftovers - love easy, easy, easy leftover meals!).
I ran it through the calculator and the whole plate came in at 287 calories!

As promised, to myself if no one else, I got in and did an hour of strength training via Les Mills Pump. I stayed at the same weight load on all of the exercises except the chest press. I actually went down 2.5 pounds on each side of the barbell. Doesn't seem like much, but when you're doing it for 5 minutes straight, those 2.5 pounds add up. I lowered that weight because I was still feeling the upperbody part of the Combat workout from yesterday. I'm pumped (no pun intended!) and excited about my mini challenge to myself. Bring on tomorrow!

Ok, I'm putting this out here. My cousin's daughter is getting married in 3 weeks. I don't normally "event" diet or train. I'd rather just "train to be healthy" and keep that constant focus - always looking at the big picture instead of the short-sighted view. But, the truth is, with my neck injury earlier this spring and everything that has gone on in my family's life in the last 5 months (anyone who knows me personally, knows what all that has been), I lost focus, wasn't able to physically do the workouts for a while, and now I'm feeling out of shape. And I have a dress for the wedding that would REALLY look better 5 pounds from now. So, here it goes. I weighed in yesterday morning so I know where I stand. I'm going to eat pretty clean and get my exercising in. I KNOW this plan will work if I work the plan! I'll be updating you to stay accountable - wish me luck!

3:22AM and I'm at the computer.
Bread in the bread machine at 2:30AM AFTER
Out of the shower at 2:10 AM AFTER
reading online reviews of ellipticals AFTER
jumping OFF of the treadmill at 1:00 AM AFTER
jumping ON the treadmill at 12:10AM AFTER
jumping OFF the broken elliptical at 12:09 AFTER
jumping ON the not-broken elliptical at 11:50PM AFTER
getting home from a date night at 11:15PM ......
Yup, that's how my life rolls sometimes.
And, I was planning on getting my next Combat workout in this morning but ended up doing some online/computer work instead. Then, I was going to do it later afternoon, even had my HRM on and shoes on and everything... got on the phone..... for the next 45 minutes, and decided to give it up and get the workout in tonight after the date night. When we got home, the family decided to watch a little late night tv (an episode we had dvr'd and really wanted to see), so I figured I'd jump on the elliptical and watch at the same time.
You know, Chalene Johnson at the end of Turbo Fire 60 is sweating up a storm and says, "You can't have the kind of fun on a machine". Well, up until now, I've agreed with her 100%, but, you can if it's going kurplunk & kerplewey and you're on it at the time! First I heard the snap. Then I heard the crack. Then I heard the grinding as I tried to move it again. Then BOTH foot pedals crashed downward at the same time! All eyes were on me, that's for sure! LOL
Anyway, guess what got added to our weekend plans???? A trip to buy a new elliptical! Have a great weekend folks, you might not hear much from me!
PS. But the good news is that I 1.) Finally did get that workout in, even if it wasn't what I was planning on and 2.) between the elliptical & treadmill tonight I burned 486 calories!

I have NEVER had a stretch feel sooooo good and hurt sooooo much at the same time! I guess I thought I had to do it all tonight. I did Les Mills Pump 55 minute Revolution (strength training) first. And I, of course, in all my wisdom, made the decision to NOT lower my weights, but do it at the same level of intensity I had been doing it when I quit, well over a month ago.
Next bright decision... since the girls weren't home yet, basketball was on the tv for DS, and DH had fallen asleep on the couch and, with the house basically to myself, I decided I just HAD to get another workout in. So, instead of choosing something relatively easy, yet blood pumping to get the blood back into the muscles, I, again, using all of the God given wisdom I could muster, decided to do Les Mills Combat's Power HIIT 1 workout. REALLY? WHAT was I thinking? Guess what's in it ... plyo (jumping) and with weights! Of course.
The next bright decision actually turned out to be the best thing I did all night, although I sure didn't think so while I was in it. I pushed play on Combat's Inner Warrior Stretch & Strength. Again.... LEG work! Ugh! But, honestly, I survived that okay. It was in the last 5 minutes during what was supposed to be a relaxing cool down that I was handed my butt. Literally.
Who would have ever thought that a Down Dog position could feel so good, but make me whimper in pain at the same time!? I really must have needed that stretch. I almost couldn't move out of the position once I got into it! I'm not huge on stretching and yoga, but I think after tonight that 18 minute workout is going to be added multiple times a week until I get all of the leg/butt muscles stretched out so they don't hurt any more.
