I haven't been counting my calories while I've been sick this last week. I know my metabolism is running higher than normal because I've been running a fever, & since I've been working 2/3 of the time I've been sick, I feel like I really need the extra nutrition right now. That's the only perk to being sick I can see. Plus my antibiotic & prednisone are definitely take-with-a-meal meds or they wreak havoc on my stomach. So, no eating limits other than whatever I eat has to be nutritious, no empty calories. I am still tracking for nutrition content, though.

There's my delicious & healthy breakfast this morning. Kiwi, fresh pineapple, & peeled pink grapefruit segments. It was yummy!

I live in a very remote rural area that has a short growing season, so fresh produce during the seven months of winter is treasured. Since last summer, a group of farmers from warmer areas has been shipping fresh produce into this area, for about half the price I pay for it in the sole local grocery store. The program was on hiatus the last 4 weeks, due to the holidays & bad road conditions. I was delighted to see it start up again today.
Today's baskets included a pineapple, 3 asian pears, 9 kiwis, a few apples, 9 oranges, a nice bag of pears, a basket of cherry tomatoes, a head of leaf lettuce, a bunch of spinach, a generous bundle of asparagus, & 3 butternut squash. I am so excited it's silly!
