Not hungry: NSV

Thursday, February 07, 2013

When I've sensed anything remotely resembling hunger in the past, I've dashed to the fridge, the store, the restaurant...anywhere so that I wouldn't be "hungry." But ever since I've joined SparkPeople in July - and especially the past month - I'm realizing that feeling "hungry" and being hungry are two different things.

When I'm "hungry," I crave the snacks and desserts that waste my calories, sodium...and money. I never feel full afterwards, just bloated.

When I'm hungry, I'll eat whatever is available at home (which is healthy 99% of the time, as I'm basically the only unhealthy one in my family). Afterwards, I feel satisfied.

I've just realized this now, because I'm feeling "hungry." But instead of eating, I'm going to sleep. Good night, SparkPeople.

Moving forward

Sunday, December 30, 2012

After losing some weight, I fell off the bandwagon a bit during Christmas. I'm back on track now, but it's a bit disappointing that I couldn't keep up my progress. When school starts up again, I'm planning an exercise regimen that fits with my schedule. Insanity workout most days supplemented with trips to the gym. I'm making a schedule and I will STICK WITH IT. Time to lose another fifteen pounds! :)

You can do it. If you keep learning from setbacks, you'll get there.

Healthy by the Holidays: December check-in

Sunday, December 09, 2012

Last update!!

September 1st: 160 lbs (actual weight: 163 lbs)
October 1st: 154 lbs (actual weight: 156 lbs)
November 1st: 148 lbs (actual weight: 155 lbs)
December 1st: **reset goal** 150 lbs (actual weight: 155 lbs)

Total weight lost: 8 lbs

Stuck on another plateau, but being consistently below 160 is great. I'll probably do another challenge between now and spring to hopefully motivate me to drop another 8 lbs. :)

Healthy by the Holidays: November check-in

Monday, November 12, 2012

September 1st: 160 lbs (actual weight: 163 lbs)
October 1st: 154 lbs (actual weight: 156 lbs)
November 1st: 148 lbs (actual weight: 155 lbs)
December 1st: 150 lbs

Only lost one pound this month, but I'm still so happy to be under 160!!! I'm back to where I was at college graduation, but I still have to lose 20-35 more lbs. I reset my weight-loss goal for December since I'm so far behind. My problem seems to be finding motivation and time to exercise around teaching. When I get home after work, I'm so stressed that all I want to do is read or play games online, trying not to freak out about school the next day. =\ Teaching in the inner city is rough in so many ways, but so far I've been able to resist comfort food!

Teaching anywhere is stressful, but it must be especially difficult where you are.
Take comfort in other things....do the unwinding by reading for a while, then focus on something different. I walked nearly every day after school (I'm retired) and found that to be 'de-stressing' too. Good luck, and never give up!! emoticon

Healthy by the Holidays: October check-in

Sunday, October 14, 2012

September 1st: 160 lbs (actual weight: 163 lbs)
October 1st: 154 lbs (actual weight: 156 lbs)
November 1st: 148 lbs
December 1st: 140 lbs

I was two lbs off this month, but since I had been stuck at 162 lbs for a few weeks, this was a welcome change. I actually haven't had time to exercise more than a couple times a week, since my teaching job has left me insanely busy. I've been pretty consistent in documenting my progress and not rewarding myself with food, but I need to get back into exercising regularly again.
