My garden is growing!

Sunday, June 01, 2014

Salads will be so much tastier picked fresh from the garden! Just picked a radish - should have spinach next week. Spring was late this year - but should still be a good growing season! Gardening has become my workout of choice right now - but thinking I still need to fit a little more in because weight loss has stalled.

Just WOW!

Wednesday, April 09, 2014

I can not believe it has been forever since I visited SP! My life has had some significant changes. I have 2 sons married, a third getting married in July and most amazing of all - I became a grandmother at the end of January! (a baby girl - first girl born to the Fisher family in 4 generations!!) I feel very blessed.
Fitness wise - I still need to lose 30 pounds - but I am on the right track - the scale is currently going down. I feel stronger than ever - I strength train 3 times a week. I have a great work out buddy who helps keep me accountable. I drink a protein shake for breakfast, eat lots of veggies and at night have a green juice for a snack. Seems to be doing the trick. I still have treats - but portion control is my friend - haha.
Now if spring would just come to Canada. emoticon

Pathetic - that is all I can say for how long it has been since I wrote anything on my blog. Life keeps chugging along - what do I do with my time - I am choosing the better things, or wasting time. Some of each -if I tell the truth. At the end of the year is a good time to reflect, set some NEW realistic goals and go for it.

I can't call it fun, but it is satisfying

Saturday, May 09, 2009

I restarted doing Jillian's 30 day shred dvd 3 days ago, (I was a week into it before when I sprained my ankle - not working out, but by being dumb and not turning on the light ). Anyway - I definitely CANNOT call this fun - but I am getting great satisfaction in accomplishing it. I don't know about other's who have done this - but I am amazed at what a tough 20 minutes this is - it seems to last forever! I have had to modify the program temporarily as to not reinjure myself - instead of jumping jacks and skipping, I am jogging in place but doing the same arm movements as the exercise. Nest week i will try the proper exercises.
Last night, DH and I spent 40 minutes working out together - one on the treadmill, 1 on the elliptical for 20 minutes and then trading for another 20 minutes. It was great - I hope we do this 20 20 date more often!! Now that we have moved back into the house (renos still not finished, but the house is quite liveable now) we are spending more time together. Iti s really nice. Our home gym isn't finished, but we set the equipment up anyway so we can use it. Good stuff! If we can just keep Keith from taking the mats apart and running his hotwheels down the treadmill! LOL

I've experienced the disappoints of a sprained ankle. Take care of yourself. I got the 30 Day Shred last week. Tonight, I finished day 3. WOW! That's all I can say. It sure is a powerful 20 minutes! I've been doing cardio and weights since last Aug. but this video just proved to me how "lazy" I've been on my workouts. I'm so soar! But I'm looking forward to see the results at the end of 30 days.

As a person with a permanently swollen ankle due to numerous sprains following an initial bad one and secondary one a few years later. May I say, please take it easy and be careful.

If only I had done the stretches as exercises as recommended when I was young and dumb (24 and again at 29). My ligaments are now so stretched in my left ankle that they can't go back. I turn it over every year or so, and then have to wear the neoprene vase and limp around.

I'm just sayin'.

Take care (of your ankle and yourself)

Hey there, Kris! I'm with STEPHANIE0904, on the ankle. Even the jog in place is putting strain on the mending. Thank goodness you're not skipping or doing the jumping jacks!! Oh, my word, that would 'do you in' fer sure!! I've never done a Jillian's workout... may have to look one up and give it a try.

How romantic (oh, I know you're gonna' laugh hysterically but...) to exercise together... I don't know... but I'm going to try to see if Clint will, with me... I just find that SEXY (hahahahaha!! call me a nut- won't be the first time... hehe!!) but... two sweeties... workin' out... gettin' all sweaty... yeah... oh, yeah!! emoticon

I have an extra bedroom that I'm converting into an exercise room. We have a 'bonus' room over the garage... has it's own private bath and walk-in closet, that we'll finish for Jori's teen suite this summer, sooo... we'll take her old bedroom and convert it into a place to work out. When we bought this house (almost 2 yr ago) I thought it was too big for us. NOT!! hehe!!

Well, Kris... I'm outta' here, girlfriend. Oh! I do like how you called 'it' your 20 20 date!! I'll tell Clint, that I want to go on a 20 20 date!! BRILLIANT!!
Have a WONDERFUL day, today, and a BLESSED Mother's Day, and, I'll catch ya' on the FLIP!!

Ouch - sounds like something I would do - yes, they call me Grace. I hope you heal quickly. It sounds like you have a plan to continue doing your DVD. Be careful not to push it too hard or quickly next week. That's great that the two of you work out together. Kenyon will walk with me but that's as for as I see if going.

Take care of your ankle and enjoy your weekend.

Luck wins the Lottery - work loses the weight

Saturday, February 07, 2009

I am learning - realizing more every day that if I really want to lose weight - get back to the slim me of my younger adult life, it is REALLY up to ME - no one else can do it for me, I am not just going to step on the scale one morning and find out that I was "lucky" enough to lose 10 pounds over night. I have to work my tail off (literally) to see results. It is not easy - I really have to work hard for every pound. I talked to a trainer one day - she told me that she didn't understand why for all the work - I am doing - why the weight wasn't coming off quicker. Well I don't get it either - but I do know that I am earning every pound gone and it feels good. I don't mind hard work - and I have learned to love the exercise "high". And the work is paying off - I stepped on the scale this morning and another pound is gone - never to return - I can be proud of what I am accomplishing. I am getting stronger every day - my endurance is increasing and I can see that there is muscle hiding under the fat - LOL! I am going to have to get some new clothes one of these soon days because my pants are getting looser - yeah!!!

    That is a great saying...

Wouldn't weight loss by osmosis be nice?
It' not gonna happen like that, so you're so right... work loses the weight!

Hey, there Kris!! You're one AMAZING lady- that's fer' sure and fer' certain!! Read your entire 11 pages of blogging the day b4 yesterday and... your life, your family, your sweet niece (went to her site) you're just... truly one FANTASTIC person, Kris. I just feel so blessed to have had the privilege to peek into A REAL GENUINE HEROINE'S LIFE- and that's what you are in my book, girly-girl!

emoticon on that pound, and ya' know what? I have a couple of fresh new articles in my 'save' on my page that talk about EXACTLY what you're going through on the weight loss thing. Are you eating up to (not under) your range? If not, it slows weight loss. There's some other 'stuff' on that too...

anyway... better 'trot' off (heehee) to get something done today- been doing a lot of rearranging to fit mom and dad's things comfortably in the house... just nicking the tip of the ice berg, so far.

alright-y then Ms 'sister of the chocoholics' check out some of my chocolate recipes I've found and the one I shared on Jennifer's Healthy Hearts Challenge for a cocoa drink.

Blessings on YOU and YOURS, oh, and Good Luck in the Leprechaun Challenge!!
Annie emoticon
