On my weekend sleep theme, I'm closing in on my goal. All but seven hours' sleep last night! Yay for sleep!!! I Feel so good, I don't think a weekend is enough. I think I'll carry this on and make July my hibernation month. (Oh, this must be what is meant by a Streak!)If anyone wants to join me, I found this site with heaps of useful information for insomniacs such as I used to be until this weekend:

Of course I am in the Southern hemisphere, with long hours of dark to assist with the sleep, and winter storms setting in from July to August to motivate me to stay snug and warm in bed. Any northerners who care to join me might prefer to practice now for hibernation in six months.

Not such an early night as I planned, spent some time watching an episode of Wallander. Sweden is so beautiful! But, I slept six hours which is great for me. (All you sound sleepers out there can see why I would want to make sleep a priority.) Woken by cats and couldn't get back to sleep, even though I listened to a sleep hypnosis iPad app that often does the trick. But I am still feeling the benefits, feeling fresh at 3 pm which is a time for wanting to nod off. Instead I changed my sheets and put my pillows in the drier to fluff them up. Hmmm, must not think of warm pillows. Tonight, cats are banned from the bedroom, no matter how stormy it is outside...

This morning I woke up feeling fantastic! I hadn't had quite enough sleep but I did sleep right through, which is so unusual for me. Instead of getting more and more fatigued during the day, i got happier and happier. There was an article in this morning's newspaper saying everyone sleeps better on Fridays so i'm going to give it a whirl. And lo and behold, the first spark article I found tonight was on sleep and waking up routines. That does it! Sleep is my number one priority this weekend. It's an early night for me, and a weekend of catching up on my zzzs. And if I do anything else, it is to create a perfect sleep environment. Wish me luck.

  


Glad to have lost some weight

Even though exercise is my focus until I am exercising steadily, I have been filling in my food tracker and I am glad to have lost two kilos in the last month. Not a stunning show, but good enough for me at the moment. Maybe it's getting to be time to set a modest little weight loss goal...

Water in winter

Not so good on the exercise myself this week, but back to the pool this weekend. I don't find it so easy to swim in winter; who knows why because it isn't as if I am getting into the water outside! Ah but it's such a great feeling when you are in the water. Today is wildly wet and windy, and I have found it hard to keep up with my water intake on days such as this. Then I remembered, water doesn't have to be cold from the tap. I can drink HOT water, it goes down so much more easily.
As for the exercise, we have had builders working in the house, and there was no little space for me to stretch out. All good now though, except for a houseguest for the next week, who I don't want to see me in my exercise glory. OMG, I just read that, now I see the power of a blog to keep you honest. Excuses excuses, not the same as reasons. I promise to find - I mean make-exercise space this week emoticon

    You must be in the Southern Hemisphere! Swimming has been a major aid in my program. Summer of 2009 I swam and weight fell off and my back was great. Summer of 2010 I didn't swim and weight and back both were not pleasing. This summer I am swimming because back is a real problem and the swimming is a major improvement. As my weight has moved down people have come up and stated amazement at my loss, adds 30 minutes at least at WalMart, so look forward to people ogling you because of the changes SP creates for us.
