Surgery tomorrow

Thursday, October 27, 2011

I'm having knee replacement surgery tomorrow and yes, I am a little scared. Even though I know many people who have had the surgery with great success...I think it's the fear of the unknown, you know what I mean? I have always been a worrier...and this time around is no different. I tend to look very far ahead and worry about things that won't even happen for a little while...such as which rehab center will I go to(because I live on the 2nd floor I can't go home right away), how I will get to & from out-patient rehab, when I can return to work...you all probably know the drill.

Anyway, I will most likely not be on SparkPeople for a little while depending on availability of an easy place to plug in my SmartPhone or access to a laptop while I'm in rehab...so, everyone continue to do great and I'll be Sparking again soon!!

Judy, I had arthroscopic knee surgery several years back and while in physical therapy, there was a person who had undergone total knee replacement same day as my surgery. They finished physical therapy WAY before I did!!! You are at your goal weight and you have mobility in the knee, so you will recover quickly, I know it! Praying for you and hoping everything goes well with your recovery and rehab! God bless you and we will miss your Sparks! Sending prayers and positive vibes your way!!!--Robyn emoticon emoticon

Good luck :) I pray for a speedy recovery.

I understand the worry. I worry all the time WAY in advance. One thing I have realized over the years is that many of the horrible things that I worried would happen or would not go well always worked out in the end so I was worried for nothing. Now my husband always remind me of this quote when I am worried. I find if I repeat it to myself it relaxes me a little.

He always says "Don't gather sticks to build bridges you may never have to cross" or "Don't cross your bridges twice".

Good luck, get lots of rest and I look forward to chatting with you when you are able to get back on spark.

You will be in my thoughts & prayers tomorrow. I'm also having surgery tomorrow. I'm having an abdominal ablasion. Which if it goes well I can come home the same day. I'm also a little nervous and scared! Hopefully, we'll both do great! Good luck! emoticon

Hope your surgery goes well - I would be worried too so I kind of know how you feel. Our parents and grandparents all had knee replacements in their 70's and 80's and came through fine so I'm sure you will, but your right about the fear of the unknown. Don't forget we're all here praying for you and cheering for your speedy recovery!

My sister-in-law had a knee replacement done last year. Also a freind had it done tuesday 10/25/2011 of this week. Both was scrared and worried about it very much. Both came thur it with flying colors. This friend seen 3 differant doctors, denied it needed to be done, the amount of pain he had etc. The knee fall apart in surgery. That is how bad it was. All I can say is follow the doctor orders and everyone working with you and you will be fine. Move the leg as much as possible. It help in your recovery a lot. Will be thinking and praying for you. God Bless You and have a good week.

AN ABSORBING QUESTION

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

WHY DO FABRICS, PAPER, AND HAIR APPEAR DARKER WHEN THEY GET WET?

All of these are porous objects. They’re also all covered by tiny, reflective, and porous surfaces, and when water is added, the tiny spaces on the surface get filled in with water. They no longer reflect specular light back, thus making the object look darker.
