Friday Proverb

Friday, September 09, 2011

THERE IS NO ONE
LUCKIER THAN
HE WHO THINKS
HIMSELF SO.
—German proverb

I'm really, really trying to think myself lucky since my natural inclination is to be kinda down on myself.

YOU are ALWAYS upbeat and supportive !
But, yes, I understand. We are always hardest
and most critical on ourselves.
But Spark is changing that !

Have a GREAT weekend.

BLESSINGS to all fellow sparkers!

Women Rule!!

Thursday, September 08, 2011

Tabitha Babbitt got the inspiration for an invention in 1810, at the age of 26, while sitting at her spinning wheel. Watching a work crew saw wood with a two-man saw, she noticed that half the back-and-forth motion was wasted (the back portion), and envisioned a circular blade. By notching the edge of a thin metal disk and then attaching it to her spinning wheel, she effortlessly cut through a piece of shingle, and the circular saw was born. But because of her religious beliefs (she was a Shaker), Babbitt never pursued a patent.

I say and especially when I worked, 'if you want to get a job done, give it to a woman."
