Eagle Watch

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Our eagle watch trip started with a visit to our usual rest stop along the way where I took Cliff's picture with his namesake.

Then it was on to the Quad Cities where we ate breakfast at our usual place - Ross's in Bettendorf. Yummmmm!!

Then we went to Dam & Lock #14 where we traditionally get to see the eagles in their protected area - they are usually flying around and fishing in the Mississippi and then perching in the trees to eat their catch. This time, we only got to see a few eagles - they weren't active - just sitting in the trees. I took some pictures with my iPhone - the first one is my favorite. The eagle decided to take wing literally JUST as I took the picture!

After that, we went to the Putnam Museum to see "Across the Sea of Time 3D" and take a fun picture:

Then we ate "Lupper" at Famous Dave's - double YUM!

Then it was home to get some sleep! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Surprising tweaks that deliver big. Try 'em now!

HAVE A GLASS OF WATER emoticon
Staying hydrated is one of the easiest things you can do for energy. When you skimp on water, the cells in your body shrink, so they can't function as efficiently, triggering feelings of fatigue.

TALK FAST
Ever notice that energetic people tend to zip through their words? Fast talk means fast thinking, which automatically boosts your energy. Speed-talk your way through your next friendly chat, and feel that breathless rush give you a boost.

PRACTICE SELF-FORGIVENESS
No more "I'm worthless because I'm overweight" or "I'm a lazy slob for skipping my workout" thoughts. Guilt is like glue. It keeps you stuck in a low-energy rut. JUST. STOP. NOW.

Instant Tension Tamer

Stress can affect your entire body, even your hair. The hormone cortisol, which is released into the bloodstream when we're anxious, can actually seep into our hair follicles. In fact, a high cortisol content in tresses was found to be a predictor of heart attack! To soothe yourself from head to toe, find an activity that calms you-whether it's practicing yoga, taking a long bath, lighting candles (yes!!!) or listening to music-and do it every day.

When you make a relaxing ritual into a habit, it becomes even more effective because it helps prevent stress over the long term.

I never knew that! That would explain why my hair gets so nasty when I go through long spouts of stress. Thanks for the info!

Banana

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Rest in peace, my little Banana Butt. Your daddy & I will miss you very, very much. But we know that you are happy at the Bridge - playing with your crocheted eggs and running all over the place dragging those socks you love so much. Enjoy all the peanut butter treats, too! We love you, sweetie!

Cliff & I had to help our little female ferret, Banana, over the Rainbow Bridge. It was very sad for us - we've had her since she was 11 weeks old.
