BREAK FREE

Friday, December 17, 2010

When you're in the thick of it all, it can be easy to lose sight of what's important. (Remember what they say about not seeing the forest for the trees!) So here's a bright idea: Rather than feel crowded by your obligations, take a deep breath (or 10), clear a space for yourself and focus on what truly matters: You're happy. You're healthy. And you're loved. Everything else is just details.

Thanks. That is how I have felt for the past few days. Just struggling to keep my head up. Now I can relax and breath.

Let me add a little Serenity to the mix:

Don't sweat over stuff over which you have no control...keep your eye on the things you CAN control! :-)

Chew on this

Thursday, December 16, 2010

The perfect post-dinner sweet: a gumball!! "Chewing produces saliva, which helps neutralize irritating stomach acids," says Victor Sierpina, MD, an associate professor of family medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch and author of The Healthy Gut Workbook. Try chomping on gum for at least half an hour after a meal-you'll fend off heartburn and that dessert craving, too!

Try some of the new dessert gums that are out there - yummy!!

I did this last year over the Christmastime and it helped ward off all those little sweets and cookies that scattered the tables everywhere. Good luck!

FEELING BLUE?

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Make toast emoticon when you're feeling blue.

It's a favorite comfort food from childhood - and the good memories associated with the distinctive aroma help you feel as safe today as you were back then.

No wonder I always want buttered toast when I'm sick! emoticon

TAKE A STEP FORWARD

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Run a 10K, learn French, deliver a long-overdue apology to a friend...Instead of constantly promising yourself you'll do something tomorrow, decide to take action this minute-even in a small way, like lacing up your sneakers or finding a language school online. It's incredibly freeing to realize you have the power to do something now that will help you reach your objective. You just have to choose to take a step forward.
