Harold reached the ripe old age of 100 and suddenly stopped going to church. Worried by Harold’s absence, his minister went to visit him. He found Harold in good health, so he asked, “Why, after all these years, don’t you ever come to church anymore?”
Harold looked around and lowered his voice. “You see,” he said, “when I got to be 85, I expected God to take me any day. But then I got to be 90, then 95, then 100. So I figured that God is busy and must have forgotten about me—and I don’t want to remind him!”

How many vodka martinis were among the 317 drinks James Bond consumed in Ian Fleming’s novels and short stories about Agent 007?

Only 19. The vodka martini may have been his favorite but it was far from his most frequent tipple. Bond’s drink count included whisky, 101 times; bourbon, 58; scotch, 38; sake, 35; and Champagne, 30.

The O.C. was a teen soap set in wealthy Newport Beach, in Southern California. Characters on The O.C. watched The Valley, a teen soap also set in a wealthy area of Southern California. The lead actor on The Valley is in his late 20s and plays a 16-year-old (just like his O.C. counterpart, Ben McKenzie), and two actors from The Valley, the ingenue and the nerd, are said to date in real life—just like O.C. stars Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody did at the time.

A minister was driving down the highway and was stopped for speeding. The state trooper smelled alcohol on his breath, and then he saw an empty wine bottle on the floor. So he said, “Sir, have you been drinking tonight?”
The minister replied, “Just water, officer.”
The trooper asked, “Then why do I smell wine?”
The minister looked down at the bottle and said, “Good Lord, He’s done it again!”

At a 2009 Antiques Roadshow taping in Raleigh, North Carolina, a woman brought in two bowls and two sculptures made from carved jade and celadon, a Chinese ceramic glaze, that her father had bought while stationed in China in the 1940s. It turns out they were crafted in the 18th century for Emperor Ch’ien-lung (ruler during the Ch’ing dynasty). “I would doubt if he paid more than a hundred dollars for any one of these,” appraiser James Callahan said. “It’s the best thing I have ever seen on the Roadshow.” The collection’s worth: $1.07 million, the first and (so far) only million-dollar estimate on Roadshow.
(I should be so lucky!)

SCANDAL ON THE SET

After four years playing the squeaky-clean Mary Camden on 7th Heaven, the wholesome WB drama about a minister and his family, Jessica Biel wanted to be more like other teen stars and take on sexier parts. Biel tried to get out of her contract, but executive producer Aaron Spelling wouldn’t allow it. So she posed semi-nude in Gear magazine. Spelling was furious, and he removed Biel from the show. She’s gone on to appear in such hit movies as I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and The A-Team.
(Good for Jessica Biel taking a chance on herself - you can't move ahead if you don't take risks!)
