Another day of celebrating...

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

Yesterday, Cliff & I celebrated my birthday. We went to our favorite place for breakfast - where I was able to get lunch instead since I don't like breakfast that much. I had my favorite Chicken Caesar Salad - yum! Cliff had a swiss cheese omelet.

Then we were on our way to Lisle, IL to the Morton Arboretum:

I also have a couple of videos that I took - I'll try to post them tomorrow.

After the Arboretum, we went to see "Iron Man 3" which was really great!!

Then dinner at Jamieson's which is a short distance from our house.

Then home to watch Dancing with the Stars.

All in all, I had a great day!

Celebrating my birthday

Monday, May 06, 2013

Today, Cliff & I are going to celebrate my 60th birthday since he had to work yesterday...and I wanted to celebrate the whole day!

Yesterday, I had a great day - I walked with my girlfriend like we always do every Sunday. Then we went garage and estate saling - something we both absolutely LOVE to do.

These are some glass flowers that I found for only $5.00!

Next comes my most excellent purchase EVER:

This leather jacket was only.....................

wait for it...................

$2.00!! emoticon

We ate lunch at one of my favorite fast food places called Boobie's where I had my absolute favorite sandwich - grilled salami and cheese! Yum!

Later in the afternoon, when Cliff got home, he surprised me with:

All in all, an excellent birthday...and another day to celebrate...can't go wrong with that!

Today is my 60th birthday!

Sunday, May 05, 2013

Finally, my 60th birthday has officially arrived!

I am trying to use a positive attitude because I am really struggling with being 60. I know it's just a number...but it's kind of an overwhelming number!

Knock, knock.
Who’s there?
Weasel.
Weasel who?
Weasel while you work.

“Good night, and good luck.”

Possibly the most famous sign-off in TV history, this phrase was coined by 1950s CBS News personality Edward R. Murrow. He got his start on radio during World War II, broadcasting from the rooftops of London buildings during the German blitz. Murrow used the line in an earnest attempt to reach out to the audience and provide comfort. He kept the line after the war and when he moved to TV.

3- Yes, even I have heard of Murrow.
Jack and I have visited The Museum of Television
and Radio California branch. (The originally is

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to everyone
but especially for us baby boomers.

I wondered what happened to Waggonner !
I had figured that he left because either
A) He was SO HANDSOME no one could stand it
or
B) He left to be on the Bionic Woman show

60th Birthday Weekend! (Actual day is Sunday!) Celebration time!! emoticon

Larry’s car broke down while he was driving through the countryside. He was waiting for a tow truck when he heard a deep voice say, “I bet it’s the carburetor.” He looked out his window, and all he saw was a big brown cow with a white circle around its right eye. Larry was too startled to say anything, so he jumped out of his car and ran down the road. When he came upon a farmer, he told him about the cow. The farmer asked, “Did that cow have a white patch over its eye?”
“Yes,” answered Larry.
“Well, then you were fooled,” laughed the farmer.
“Fooled?” asked Larry.
“Yes,” said the farmer. “Old White Patch doesn’t know anything about cars.”

What does the menacing-looking deep-sea vampire squid do when startled?

It turns itself “inside out,” defensively curling its web and arms around the rest of its body in what researchers refer to as its pineapple posture.
(I got that one wrong - I was thinking it shot out black inky stuff! emoticon

Tricks of the trade from commercial food stylists

* Brown shoe polish is painted onto steaks and burgers to make them look like they’re perfectly cooked.

* Hair spray prevents lettuce and vegetables from wilting.

* Spray deodorant is how stylists get the look of tiny, frosty ice crystals on the outside of an ice cream container. It also makes delicate fruits—particularly grapes—shine.

GREAT! you got me !
Til the end I thought it
was a TRUE story

emoticon
FASCINATING
I had to immediately google
vampire squid
According to marinebio.org
it is actually a cross between
squids and octopi, but their
body composition is similar
to that of a jellyfish !

AND they have fins.
When the last pair of fins
reaches maturity, the original
air is then reabsorbed. The new
fins change the vampire squid's
swimming style from jet propulsion
(like a squid) to fin propulsion!
emoticon

emoticon
for the info.
emoticon for butting in
on your blog, BUT
I found it SO INTERESTING
and just wanted to share

Have a Wonderful Weekend

A Bodacious Birthday !
