Toured Cave of the Winds. Drove through Garden of the Gods. emoticon
Went to a cool Dinosaur Museum.
Breathtaking views of the mountains everywhere.

Now we're in Kansas - staying overnight in Topeka, then home.

4 ways to make yourself likeable

Thursday, August 16, 2012

You can’t make someone like you. But you can behave in ways that will make it slightly more likely. Here are strategies to keep in mind—not ways to manipulate people or to be fake, but to ensure that your desire to be friendly effectively shines through:

1. Smile. Studies show that the amount of time you smile during a conversation does influence how friendly you’re perceived to be.

2. Be easily impressed, entertained, and interested. Most people get more pleasure from wowing you with their humor and insight than from being wowed by your humor and insight.

3. Have a friendly, open, engaged demeanor. Lean toward people, nod, say “uh-huh,” turn your body to face the other person’s body.

4. Try to remember the person’s name.

#4 always gets me...I forget names of people, even if I've known them for years! I don't know why, but I can look at a friend or coworker and draw a complete blank. It's weird. emoticon

The monkey would eat and eat and eat and never get full. He was starting to think he had an ape worm.

Tuesday Teasers

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

What do you call a snake you can’t trust?

Slippery.

A giant panda walked into a restaurant. He ordered dinner, ate it, and then pulled out a gun and shot the waiter. Terrified, the manager emerged from the kitchen as the panda was walking out the door.

“Hey!” he yelled. “You just shot my waiter. Where do you think you’re going?”

The animal replied calmly, “I’m a panda. Look me up in the dictionary.”

When the panda was gone, the manager grabbed the dictionary. Sure enough, under panda it said: “Furry mammal. Native to China. Eats shoots and leaves.”
