Trimmed the fat from your food plan - but starting to wonder if curbing carbs was really the better option? Now you can stop second-guessing your choices. A large new study from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, LA, found that a variety of different regimens works equally well for weight loss-just as long as you slash calories. Study participants each followed one of four popular eating strategies, with varying proportions of protein, fat and carbs, and all lost around the same amount of weight over a two-year period.
This shows that the composition of a diet isn't the major factor when it comes to dropping pounds. Using a method you can actually stick to has a big impact, too. Because that's easier to do if you're eating foods you favor, go ahead and have a steak or salmon if you're a protein-lover, or enjoy pasta if that's your passion.
Basically, eat anything in moderation! Count those calories.
