Chew on this

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Eat less from a dark plate.

Does a white plate make you eat more? It depends on the color of your food. At the Cornell Food and Brand Lab, they found that buffet diners served themselves about 24 percent more when they were offered white pasta on white plates, as opposed to white pasta on red plates. The reason: Contrasting colors increase our awareness of how much we consume, so dark-colored plates are best if you're serving white foods like pasta, rice, or potates.

Who knew?

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.. Oddly enough, two weeks ago I replaced my white with red dinnerware. Hope it works ... I can use all the help I can get.

4 ways to act like a true friend

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

1. Give support. Along with the feeling of intimacy, one of the best aspects of friendship is the feeling of support it provides. And although getting support is important, giving support may be even more important to boosting happiness.

2. Don’t criticize a friend’s sweetheart or spouse—and, at the other extreme, don’t flirt with a friend’s sweetheart or spouse.

3. Be kind to friends’ children.

4. Show up. Sometimes a friend asks you to show up someplace when you’d really rather not: a wedding in an inconvenient town or a surprise party that falls on New Year’s Eve. Do your best to show up.

I don't know why, but I like this one

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

I am lost.

I've gone to look for myself.

If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait.

(It makes me giggle)

Emotional Contagion

Monday, April 09, 2012

We unconsciously catch emotions—whether good ones or bad ones—from other people. Someone in a happy, energetic mood will help boost the moods of others, but unfortunately, a negative mood can be more contagious than a positive one.

Catch my mood today -

Bigger Bucks = Bigger Savings

Sunday, April 08, 2012

Marketing researchers call it the "denomination effect". Larger bills feel more valuable than the equivalant amount of money in smaller bills. That's why we're more reluctant to spend a $20 bill than a $5 bill.

Want to avoid impulse buys and save money? Carry a $20 bill instead of four $5 bills.
