6 tips for sparking creativity

Friday, February 17, 2012

• Take time to wander, to go to unexpected places.

• Keep a notebook to record your impressions.

• Pursue ideas and activities that interest you, even if they seem unproductive.

• Keep scrapbooks of ideas, images, quotations, and the like.

• Make an effort to write, draw, or practice every day.

• Put yourself in Creativity Boot Camp: Tackle a project in an intense, concentrated way,
and push yourself to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF

Thursday, February 16, 2012

• What do you actually do when you have some free time? Really examine it. Be honest.

• When was the last time you planned any kind of celebration, big or small, for someone?

• Which of your possessions gives you the greatest happiness?

    1. When I have the free time. I like to walk in the pasture and talk to my horses Sinny and Velvet....They are great listeners.....Seldom back talk to me.....and ALWAYS give me a hug....

2. This past Dec.1st for my daughter Kirstens' 18th birthday. It was a blast....Of course just being with her and her friends make me smile....

3,I have 3 possessions that give me the greatest pleasure, My kids, My horses and My dog and cat.....THEY are what keep me going, provide support, Remind me to breathe

These are excellent questions! I'd like to hear your answers too.

1) Unscheduled free time - I usually walk my dog.
Scheduled free time - Call a friend and chat.

2) Yesterday I planned a b-day party for a new friend :) I LOVE parties!

3) I wish I could say it wasn't a material good that gives me pleasure, but it is. My Ipad. I can't live without it.

I suppose my greatest possession in my 'life' & the Lord

    1. The sleepless nights are taking a toll on me - I feel like I don't have any energy and my "free time" is being wasted in front of the tv (and I usually doze off for at least part of it).

2. I organize birthday celebrations at work and the seasonal birthday boards regularly. Nothing big, but I like to think they brighten up someone's day! Hoping that I can start planning "baby shower" before too long : )

3. If children were possessions, they would be #1. But we have to let them grow and start their own lives, and hopefully find all that we have dreamed for them. I would have to say my computer/phone so I can stay in touch with them!

Great questions! Certainly ones to keep asking ourselves on a regular basis!

EMBRACE BEAUTY - SOUL

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Plant something. Rally your neighbors to sow seeds at the corner park, or join your town's sapling-planting committee. You and your community will delight together as it grows. Knowing that some dirt, water, and lots of patience can blossom into something so beautiful is a gift to everyone.

Even though it's snowing here, Spring is in the air (at least in everyone's mind!). My BH and i were just talking about a garden over the weekend! And I was thinking that I should bring in some fresh herb plants (mint, lemon verbena, etc.) for work to put in tea! I think they would grow under the florescent lights? Not sure what our city has, but a good thought to put out there!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

EMBRACE BEAUTY - BODY

Monday, February 13, 2012

Forgive your frizzy hair...or never mind your big nose...or just pick your least favorite body part and decide to show it some love for once in your life (or at least since adolescence.) Having self-compassion can actually help you cope with other shortcomings in your life, according to a study from Duke University.
