FIVE FATEFUL QUESTIONS

Thursday, January 26, 2012

If you’re trying to make a tough decision, ask these five questions to help yourself think more clearly:

• What am I waiting for?
• What would I do if I weren’t scared?
• What steps would make things easier?
• What would I do if I had all the time and money in the world?
• What is the worst, and the best, that could happen?

GO IT ALONE

Sunday, January 22, 2012

You schedule quality time with pals, but have you ever made a date with yourself? Solitude is essential for creativity, and it fosters personal development as well.

So...go for a hike, practice yoga, or unplug your devices and just sit and think. In our hyperconnected culture, solitude is more important now than ever.

So true and we don't make time for "peace and quiet" in our lives! So connected to everything and everyone - I am definitely guilty of this! Today I will strive for a few moments of quiet time. Thanks for the reminder! emoticon

Home, Slim Home

Saturday, January 21, 2012

Cutting calories isn't the only way to drop pounds. It's not just what you eat that affects your weight, but how you eat it. To set yourself up for success, try these 3 top tricks:

Put produce front and center

At dinner, serve yourself salad and veggies at the table but leave meat and potatoes on the stove. You're more apt to take seconds of what's in front of you. Also, keep fruit in a bowl on the counter instead of in the refrigerator; research shows that this can double your intake.

Dish it out

Eating from appetizer rather than dinner plates can help you trim portions, but it can also make them feel skimpy. The solution: Set a larger plate underneath, as restaurants do, to make your servings look more substantial.

Lighten up

Blue can help lessen hunger, while red and yellow stimulate it. Not planning to repaint your dining room walls? Light a grapefruit or peppermint scented candle before sitting down to eat. Both fragrances have been linked to a decrease in appetite.

    emoticon As always,
your tips are wonderful and DOABLE !

Had read that restaurants use colors in decor and plates to trick us into overeating - as if we need help with THAT!

BLESSINGS!
