Day 24: September Challenge

Monday, September 24, 2012

Excitement is in the air. Started Day 1 of the last week of my C25K program. I am so excited and find it so hard to believe that what started 9weeks ago, with small 30Second walk-run steps, is almost fully blown into a 5K run!!!! I am amazed at myself.

Today's challenge question is: "What do you think about pro-ana/pro-mis?
Response: As usual, some of these terminologies are strange to me. I had to do a search and the Wiki gave me this definition " Pro-ana refers to the promotion of the eating disorder anorexia nervosa. The lesser-used term pro-mia refers likewise to bulimia nervosa and is sometimes used interchangeably with pro-ana". I would like to say that, since I had no idea what they were, I obviously couldn't have given them any thought. Now that I know what they mean, they are not subjects of interest because I am a positive person, who does not dwell on things that do not add value to her life. In summary, "No Comment".
Goodnight everyone and let's remain on the positive side of things.

The folks that I personally know who participate in that C25K program really, really like it and stay with it.

I personally don't have any desire for it. One of the former facilitators of the SparkLive! meetings told me about a comparable treadmill program on active.com (I think that was the name of the site where I downloaded the information originally). I've been working on the 12-week treadmill program and I like that....give me an indoor gym with air conditioning and TV anytime!

I do admire you folks, though!

Day 23: September Challenge

Sunday, September 23, 2012

Today has been great. I got up at about 5:35am and went for a 3.4mile walk. It was totally refreshing. I actually took my time and made it a Prayer Walk. Nothing like talking to my Father at dawn while appreciating His wonderful works.
My challenge question today is : "Did the media play a role in your wanting to lose weight?"
Response: I have to say yes. I do watch TV shows talking about Obesity and health issues in America. Also, the internet is filled with issues attached to obesity. All these media, directly or indirectly, tuned my mind towards starting a healthy lifestyle. SP has however being the main force behind my actually starting and staying in. Thanks SP.
Wishing you all a most blessed and fulfilling week.

Day 22: September Challenge.

Saturday, September 22, 2012

I exercised very early this morning so I could rest all day. I completed my Week 8 of the C25K; doing day 3 this morning. I have just one more week to go.

My challenge question for today is: "What was your lowest weight? How and why did you gain"
Response: My lowest weight as far as I can recollect was 75Kg (about 165lbs). This was about 15years ago before I had my first child. After my having my twins, about 9yeasr ago, I went up to 198lbs. This was very consistent until I came to the United States. My driver's license still reads 198lbs but I ballooned to 253!!!!
The how and why? Practically living a sedentary life; sleep, wake, work, home, TV, Church, Sleep...............
Basically, I was not conscious of who I was becoming and the danger to my health. Thanks be to the Lord that all that is changing.
Have an awesome weekend!

This statement of yours says it all for me "Basically, I was not conscious of who I was becoming and the danger to my health." I think that is what has happened to me as well. Thank you for sharing.

I allowed myself to get to 252, without recognizing it. I am now down to 214. I hope to get off my plateau and get moving.
Reading your blogs has helped to motivate me. Thanks.

Day 21: A Thousand Words!

Friday, September 21, 2012

I decided to take my picture and share the actual change with my friends. So on my way to work this morning, I asked my daughter to use my phone camera to take the picture. I was so happy to SEE the changes between March and September. I bless the Lord for the ability to achieve such results.

My challenge question is : What are your clothing Sizes?"
Response: I am happy to declare that I now wear a size 14W Jeans, XL or L tops, and in some cases, like the top I wore today, it was an M!!! M!!!!, I can't believe it. Coming from 22W and 3xl in January this year. I can shout it for all to hear.

I believe my pictures deserve to replace the challenge picture today, so here it it....

As you rejoice with me, have a wonderful night or day and remain blessed!!!!

Day 20: Who was I Really?

Thursday, September 20, 2012

I work as a substitute teacher while pursuing my doctoral program. I get to go to different schools on a daily basis and meet children from K-12 grades. I also tutor in the evenings. One thing that came to light today was the fact that something in me has definitely changed. Usually, when I get to a class and see PE on the lesson plan, I get so annoyed because it means that I have to stretch myself beyond my comfort zone.
Today, I worked with 3rd graders and when I saw that PE was on the lesson plan, I became very excited. The students were to run round the track 3 times and play dodged ball, all for 45mins. I knew it was an opportunity to move my body; and I gladly seized it.

Oh, how I have changed. Oh, how delightful it is to see the very obvious change. I started thinking,"Who was I really?" Who was I before this new and emerging me? How could I have lived such a dull, "Immobile", and rigid lifestyle?
I definitely am a changed person and I am loving this new me so much!

My challenge question for today is: "What is your favorite diet?"
Response: For someone who is quite new to dieting, this is not an appropriate question. However, following the Spark lifestyle is my first experience and so I can consider it my first, only, and favorite lifestyle change program.
Going to sleep, I want to make my 8 hours. Till tomorrow, by His grace, good night friends and good morning to you at the other side of the globe.

I am so glad to hear that you're recognizing positive change in yourself. I have been on SP for about 2 months now, and really working on myself - and I see some of the same changes in me. It is really exciting, I've noticed I am having an easier time having a positive outlook on things, and just being better to myself in general.
