Day 17: September Challenge.

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

I am just coming in from my week 8 day 1 run. I worked late and got in at about 7:15pm. I was so tired and almost did not go for the run. However, I knew that if I missed today, then I would have to reshuffle my weekly schedule, which is a no, no. Right now, physical activities are smuggled into my TIGHT schedule, I cannot afford to skip any little opportunity I have, except it is absolutely necessary. So, I told myself, I can do all thing true Christ that strengthens me. I was charged up and stepped out. I made it and felt so good!!!
Right now, I am super tired and going to sleep. I just had to post my response to today's challenge question.
Question: Do you have an eating disorder?
The questions could be so boring at times (this is one of them).
Response: No, I have no eating disorder. I try not to over or under eat. Moderation in all things is my watch word.
NB
I need ideas for a Christmas challenge that I can do with my friends. I want us to do a 75 days to Christmas challenge. Any fun idea you have, would be appreciated.

So I am dragging myself to bed.
Good night...........

The feeling of working out is great, especially when I don't feel like it.

I know that if I miss one day, I am more apt to miss the next....it is just easier to.

That is why it is so important for me to make myself do things on a daily basis because if I blow it off today, it is gonna be easier to blow it off tomorrow!

and...it is just so difficult to get going again once I stop altogether.

Day 16: September Challenge

Sunday, September 16, 2012

Today started beautifully. I had my 3.4 mile-walk before going to church. I had a great service and was mightily blessed.
My challenge question today is: When did you decide lose weight?
Response: I can't give an exact date but one thing that I can say categorically is that I finally decided to start a healthy living this year and it is working out as planned.
I joined a new team today. Actually I joined one last week and another today. The first is for Former Spark Live members. It is a means of support for former members of the meeting.

The one that I joined today and might be co-Leading is on Time Management and organizational Productivity Fans. Time management is crucial for healthy living. You might want to join us.

Have a blessed day.

Day 15: September Challenge

Saturday, September 15, 2012

My day went great. I did W7D3 of the C25K program. That's week 7 down 2 more to go.
My challenge question for today is" "Are you Vegan or Vegetarian? If so, has this helped you lose weight? If not would you ever consider turning vegan or vegetarian.
Response: I am neither vegan nor vegetarian. I have never considered being one. In August, I had a meatless challenge. No meat through out the month. It was a good experience and I also do the Daniel Fast once in a while. However, I have acquired a lifestyle of moderation in all things, which I intend to keep as a lifelong one. Therefore, I am going to continue eating all the various type of food but in moderation.

I went vegetarian for one year....for Christmas I made tamales with a tofu filling...believe it or not, it really wasn't that bad!

I am carb-sensitive, so I didn't loose much weight that year. What I did lose was: nail strength and hair.

Some folks do very well without meat and dairy; I am not one of them. I really wanted to do well with that food plan because I wanted to protest the lack of animal rights and all the junk they put into our meat and poultry.

But, I do much better as a carnivore!

The Power of Vision

Friday, September 14, 2012

It has being a long journey.
Sometime in the year 2006, I sat at my desk in my little office in a town called Ilorin in far away Africa. I was bored and was browsing about weightloss. I hit on SparkPeople. The website looked appealing and I decided to register. I did and after a couple of days, life took over and I completely forgot about the site. I kept receiving emails from SP but it meant nothing to me. There were other more important issues in life than weight loss; or so I thought.
Fast forward to 2011, I am now living in the USA, and one day I was browsing the internet and remembered SparkPeople. I went to the site and my interest was aroused. I did some digging in and decided to come back later. Yes, I came back about five months later in March 2012.
March 13, 2012 marked the beginning of a new life for me. I committed to a healthy living, tracking ALL my intake. It enters my mouth, it is tracked. Slowly, I started taking steps in physical activities. Walking in my living room to Leslie Sasone's Video. My life was changing though I had not realized it.
From tracking my food, to walking, learning how to jog to actually running. I am amazed at how far I have come. I weighed in at 253lbs on March 13, 2012. Yesterday was my 6month anniversary. I weighed in at 205lbs! I have taken part in several challenges and on the week 7 of my C25K program. Three months ago, I couldn't even jog for 30 seconds!. How amazing is that?
I now talk to people about healthy living, not because I set out to, but the results of and change in my appearance has people coming to me for advice.
I am still far from my ultimate goal of 165lbs. However, I am slowly and VERY surely getting there. Everyday is a new opportunity to learn and I seize it, never taking any day for granted.
My Spark experience is also a growing one. I now blog and eagerly earn SparkPoints. I have made and still making new friends. My friends are a huge facilitator of my success so far. They encourage through their words and Goodies, Oh I love those Goodies! The success stories of others totally always motivate me. Also, I have now become a Team leader; what progress!
As a commemoration of my 6month Streak, I decided to make and share my Motivational Collage with you all. This Visual represents me and what I have become. Like, I told my friends in one of my blogs, My next challenge is to become someone's "thinspo"; thin inspiration. Some day, when some is asked the question "Whose picture do you have as your thinspo?" I want them to show my pictures. Yes, it will happen and when it does, you, my friends on Sparkpeople will be the first to hear about it.
Just watch out. Here I come and there is no stopping me!

I love the amazing things our bodies can do when we put healthy food into them and move them more often. You have a great journey going. Congratulations on the weight lost and I know you are going to get where you want to go.

What a powerful message to share with us!

I especially like the picture on your vision board that has the statement: "setbacks will only make me stronger."

I am so in agreement with everything that you have expressed. The SparkPeople site is such a supportive, life-changing, life-enhancing environment; we are so fortunate to have stumbled upon it.

Thanks for sharing this and thanks so much for adding me to your friends list.

Day 14: September Challenge

Friday, September 14, 2012

Beautiful Friday it is!
My challenge question today is " What is your UGW? When do you expect to reach it?
Response: As always, I had to do a research to find out the meaning of UGW. It means Ultimate Goal Weight.
Well, my UGW is 165lbs and I plan to reach it by June 12, 2013. My next birthday. I am seriously working on it and hope to reach my target weight by set date.
To shore up my motivation, I made a Motivational Collage yesterday. I will share it with you later today.
Have a wonderful Weekend.
