I'm so terrible about blogging, I never seem to get around to it.
Since my last blog I wasn't feeling well for a while, a flare of my irritable bowel, but that seems to have settled down.
I've been doing good with the healthy eating, I'm finally back on track, eating the way I should most days. I have slips here and there, usually sweets, but I get back on track right away, no extended slip ups. I lost a couple pounds and have maintained that for at least a week, which is good. I still have 3 pounds I want to get rid of but now that things are falling into place I know it's just a matter of time.
I think I'm getting "addicted" to my Walk it Out Wii video. I'm having a ball with it, doing it almost every day. I do 20-30 minutes each time. Sometimes, like today, I'll do some other exercise in the morning and the WIO in the afternoon. My husband even does it with me sometimes. He gets a kick out of seeing new buildings go up on the island. I'm planning on doing probably 20" this afternoon.

I'm slowly getting back on track with my healthy eating, some days I do really well, others, not so much. I lost 2 pounds this week (that I gained a couple weeks ago) but still have those stubborn 5 to get rid of. I haven't been consistent with my eating/exercise. A lot of stresses lately, some resolved, some ongoing. I tend to lose focus when stressed and not pay attention to portion sizes. The past few days have been pretty good.
I've discovered a new exercise video that I'm having a lot of fun with. We recently bought our first Wii and I bought "Walk It Out", a video game where you walk on an island, to music. As you step you earn coins to develop the island. It keeps me going and I lose track of time. Can't do it longer than 30 minutes but I try to do it most days.
*Turmeric - I've been on the turmeric/bromelain 3 pills daily in the morning for just over a month now. I do think it's helping. I'm not pain free but I am more comfortable than without it. I'm going to continue taking it and might try splitting the dose into morning and afternoon, possible taking 2 AM & PM.

Completed my team's 7 day challenge - did very good, really helping me get back on track. The team repeated the challenge this past week but I skipped it this time. Had a really busy week and no time to record in my food journal. I did OK but do need to repeat the challenge. Hope to do that this coming week.
I'm going to whip out my food journal and use it the next two days, then just record what I eat, not calories, for the two days that my Mom will be visiting, then back to counting calories on Friday. I'm going to watch portions carefully the days Mom's here. She's bringing, at my request, her heavenly apple crumb pie. She only makes it a couple times a year so I plan to enjoy it. I will have a generous slice both days and send what's left home with her.
*Turmeric - still taking daily. I do think it's doing something. I definitely seem to be moving easier and the pain seems a lot less severe most of the time. I'm not pain free and don't expect to be, but any improvement is good. I've gradually upped the dose to 3 tabs a day. (the dosing on the bottle says 1-2 daily)

Finished my 7 day challenge on Sunday. Here's how I did -
Food Journal - recorded everything I ate and calories every day
Stayed in my calorie range each day
Sweets - had one piece of fudge Monday and Tuesday, no sweets the remaining days
The week really helped me to pay attention to what I'm eating, something I've been slacking off on lately. A nice side benefit was that when my Mom came for a two day visit I didn't go overboard in my eating (especially sweets), like I usually do. I was very aware of portion sizes.
I'm joining my team's get back on track challenge this week and keeping up my momentum.
*Curcumin - I've been on the different brand, it's turmeric with bromelain and bioperine, and it could be my imagination, or wishful thinking, but I seem to be more comfortable and moving a little easier.

Started Monday, today is day 4.
get back to healthy eating most of the time
get my sweet tooth monster under control
What I'm doing -
1200-1400 calories daily
limit sweets, none on most days
keep it simple, easy to follow
no guilt, move on if flub up
As of today - doing good. Stayed in calorie range so far. Had some fudge (small piece Monday and Tuesday), no sweets yesterday.
*Curcumin - started a different brand this morning, this one has a non-soy based stabilizer. I'm sensitive to soy so I've been hesitant to increase the dose too much. Started with one tab daily.
So far so good.
