Today is the last day of week 3 of the sugar challenge. This week's focus was on making healthier swaps for sugary foods.
I had mixed results this week. My biggest hurdle was a visit from my Mom, who loves her sweets and desserts. I had a peach pie that we had for dessert while she was here. That's the negative. On the positive side, that was the only sweet I had on those days, and I practiced portion control.
I made a list of healthier snack swaps -
I've tried -
raw veggies - I love raw carrots
Greek yogurt - I like for dessert or with my carrots
peanut butter - really watch portions, I love it but I tend to overdo
pretzels - watch portions
Others I haven't tried yet -
hard boiled eggs
high fiber cereal - eaten dry
yogurt with granola/crushed granola bar
nuts - watch portions
I'm going to stay with week 3 for another week, try some of these other snack ideas before moving to the final week.

Today is the last day of week 2 of the Sweet Tooth Challenge. Did well until Wednesday. I went grocery shopping in the morning and bought some Reeseís PB eggs, a favorite of mine. I ate 3 in the course of that day, and again yesterday.
In addition, Wednesday was our 36th anniversary and we went to Olive Garden for dinner. Had a high fat high cal dinner (chicken alfredo). It was delicious, I enjoyed every bite. We then took dessert home for later (I got a warm caramel apple dessert). I have no guilt about what I ate, either the dinner or the dessert, but my bodís not used to eating like that, all that fat and calories. I paid for it yesterday. Did not feel well all day. Much better today.
Lesson learned Ė My bod is now used to eating healthier meals, lower in overall calories and fats. It will definitely tell me when Iíve eaten that far off program. Listen to your body.

Sweet Tooth Challenge -
Yesterday I had two small choc covered caramels, my only sweets for the day. The great part is that I didn't go overboard. I drank a big glass of water after the candies and that got the sweet taste out of my mouth. My sweet tooth was satisfied for the rest of the day. Definite progress, since my goal for this challenge is not to eliminate sweets but to limit sweets.
Today's sweet - syrup this morning.
Today is my 36th Wedding Anniversary ! Boy does that make me feel old ! For breakfast this morning my husband made us pancakes. MMMM, they were yummy.

Four years ago today I reached my goal weight, actually went under where I wanted to be. I adjusted my goal range a couple of times, wanting a weight range that would be easy to maintain. My current range is 153-157. As of today I'm 3 pounds over, but that will come off as the winter winds down.
My new healthier lifestyle -
I consider myself a flexitarian. I eat mostly veggies, grains, beans, fruit. No beef. Chicken probably every couple of weeks. Little fish because I don't like it much. Except for tuna salad. I would like to add more fish to my diet.
Drink lots of water
Little between meal snacking, unless my sweet tooth attacks me.
most days of the week for total of 30-40" each time
I do two days of cardio followed by one day of strength exercises
I have never maintained a weight loss goal for longer than a few months. Maintaining for 4 years amazes me ! I could never have done it without Spark. I am so proud of me !

Just finished week 1 -
Had no sweet cravings until yesterday afternoon. It was strong enough that I went looking for a sweet to eat. We had some choc caramels that I enjoy, told myself I could have one since this week is not about eliminating sweets. Instead I made a bargain with myself - have some carrot chips in yogurt first, then if I still want a sweet I can have one caramel. Took my time eating and savoring the carrots/yogurt. When I finished the sweet craving was gone, so no candy.
