Body Cleanse????

Monday, May 10, 2010

Hubby and I have started a new journey, we are doing a body cleanse this week, eating only raw (uncooked) foods, lots of fruits vegis and fresh greens, and adding a protein shake. We plan to do this for the week, and then each week slowly add more....

If anyone has any insight or has ever done a body cleanse, I would love more info!!

Thanks!!

You'll get there just like i have. It's been a constant uphill battle believe me because the scales just don't want to move, budge or give an inch! SO I've said forget the scales and I've been concentrating on everything else since. It feels so much better! It's no longer a psychological battle either!

And it does feel good It feels Fantastic! Every two weeks my kits arrive I assemble them and deliver and hang the advertisements in their approproate places in each grocery store. I might be on the road two days and never an hour to an hour and a half drive from home! So technically I work maybe five days out of a month on the road give or take what the weather is like If it's good I can get it done in a couple of days every two weeks! I think I have like five stores to go to. Some will take maybe 20-30 minutes in each time. Unless I have to do grocery carts too. So that's what? A little over two two and a half hours work away from home every two weeks plus travel! No more dealing with bosses like I have with these two! I've put up with a lot of crap!!!!!! Attitude, mood swings It wouldn't have been so bad but it was on a daily basis! I never knew what kind of atmosphere I was going to walk into! So yeah! It feels great! I shouldn't have to be there more than another four weeks and out of those four I work a whole 12 hours! It's a JOKE!

I need Help.....part 2

Saturday, March 14, 2009

I just want to say thank you!! I remember why I love spark soooo much, you are all always there to give a boost. no matter what!! emoticon

I know i can do it, I am just feeling so discouraged right now.
In October I was 156 pounds, yay me!! But over the months I have put on 14 pounds as of yesterday....ughhh that is so frustrating. I worked so hard to get it off and I am once again, slowly but surely putting it back on. I am angry with my self, which just discourages me that much more. I try to eat as healthy as i can but then we will have a bad week ($ wise) and I have to beg steal and borrow just to get food on the table, so sometimes its not the healthiest (not even close) and I feel like i have to start over and over and over. 2 steps forward.......5 back!!

The recipes and suggestions were very helpful. I have never been a good grocery shopper, so being tight on money makes it that much harder for me. I just have to do alot more planning ahead.

Thank you all for listening to my rant and offering your help!!

I read an article this past week that showed that frozen veggies and fruits actually hold their nutrients better than fresh fruit. That will help save money if you get the frozen ones instead of fresh and more nutrients to boot :)

Also, I love red beans and rice. I love my crockpot. You can eat for a week on less than 7 dollars. You get a bag or 2 or red kidney beans and then add water and cajun flavoring to the crockpot. then you just let cook. I usually add some kind of sausage. I get the cheapest the store has. When I am about an hour out from eating it, I add the rice or I cook the rice separately and put the beans over it. It is great. It lasts a while and you can freeze it to heat up later if you don't do left overs.

I also do soups and roasts etc.. in the crockpot. It is so much easier and you don't have to be a great cook or anything.

I know what it means to be on a budget and you will make it work. I know you have gotten a lot of advice here and I am glad to see you posting and coming to us for help.

I pray that you find ways to smile and be blessed this week. I know that you are on the upswing.

hugs
Amber

For me, it helps to list it out. Get a menu plan figured out for yourself. I know it isn't easy, at least not for me with a teen age boy, and two adults, all three with different tastes, and me trying to get all to eat right. I'm finding making in bulk and freezing helps, especially for work lunches for me. but making a menu list out for the week, then doing a shopping list from that and sticking to it will help out a lot. That can be a start.

I NEED HELP.....

Thursday, March 12, 2009

I am throwing up the white flag....I give up, well kinda. I need Help!!

I need help planning SUPER cheap ( I mean Super cheap) healthy meals. I was doin great and we hit hard times, and it seems like i cant win. We are broke and it is soooo hard to eat healthy with no money. I know everyone says you can, but really it seems impossible. We live on hamburger helper and mac n cheese (ok im exaggerating a little) but I cant seem to get it.

If anyone is willing, please help. Thank you!!

Budgeting on the tight weeks for me means beans and soups! I love those bags of beans; you have to plan ahead when you want them, but you can soak them in water and turn them into everything from baked beans to soups or mashed beans... they are filling and way cheaper than meats! Also buy your veggies seasonally, but if you can't afford fresh go with storebrand frozen. Do you have an ALDI's store where you live? We do most of our shopping there (it is a stock up store) there are no shelves just one or two brands of each food and many basic foods on the shelf (we cut the grocery bill in half by shopping there). Also watch the store adds for special deals, and when at the grocery be willing to compromise by looking for manager deals on foods you can use ($2 off chicken expiring that day for example).

As a single mom, I had to squeeze every nickle until the buffalo screamed. I use my crockpot alot. By using that you can buy cheaper cuts of meat and they come out so tender. I also buy frozen store bought veggies and lots of fruit. I would also check out an open pantry place. You either get free food or alot for a low price. Call you church or social services to see if maybe you qualify for food stamps.

Boy, do I hear ya' on this one! When I was in Vet school with FIVE kids, I had to do some pretty creative shopping to keep us healthy. I suggest stocking up on lots of frozen veggies which are almost always on sale. Not the fancy mixes from Green Giant and Birds Eye, but the "plain Janes" with your store brand. As to meat, make it S-T-R-E-T-C-H by making a little go a long way. I usually bought the cheap chicken fryers and boiled them. Then I removed all the skin and bones, shredded the mean (and yes, you'll have to use the dark too to make it work), and put them in little freezer bags. Then I would pull one out, add it to some veggies, some store brand "cream of" soups, and some brown rice to make a big casserole that we could eat on for days. Same with soups, stews, etc. A little meat is all you need for the flavor. And be sure to save the broth for those soups! Just put the whole pot (minus the chicken) into the fridge overnight. Skim off the fat and then pour the broth into ice cube trays. Pop out the frozen broth and store in the freezer. Again, it only takes a little broth to add the flavor. If you find a cheap cut of beef on sale, do likewise.

Forget snacks. They don't work here and you won't die without them. But spend a large portion of your budget on fresh fruits. Not the fancy things like kiwis, but apples, oranges and bananas will give you your vitamins, carbs and fiber. Ditto on onions, potatoes, and carrots. All are cheap, in comparison to other fruits and veggies, but you'll still get your nutrition in. Finally, water is the PERFECT drink for all meals and it's cheap. No more sodas, gatorade, whatever. And spend a little each week on freezer storage bags. You can freeze soups and stews in these bags and they store much easier. Storage containers are nice, but they're more expensive.

One last thing, be sure you keep vitamins in your daily regimen. They'll help supply the vitamins you might be missing.

HANG IN THERE! You can do this, I just know it!

Do you have a store that sells individual frozen chicken breasts? Walmart does for like $8 If you buy the chicken tenderloins they are good for 4-5 meals.

Recipe one
4 Chicken tenderloins
Cover in one can fat free cream of mushroom soup do not dilute
Top with one box reduced sodum stove top stuffing
sprinkle with water to slightly moisten stuffing
Cover in foil
Bake 350 degree oven 45 mins or until chicken is cooked through
Serve with a can of veggies
Cost Less than $6.00 serves 2

Recipe 2
Put 4 tenderloins in a nonstick skillet
Season with salt pepper, onion powder and garlic power (or whatever you like to season with)
Do not use oil or butter
Cook over medium high heat until chicken is cooked through
Cover in 1 can fat free cream of chicken soup
Do not dilute
Cook for about 5 mins until soup is less thick. Mix in about 1/2 packet taco seasoning mix or sprinkle in chili powder
Let cook another 5 mins or so
Sprinkle with fat free cheddar cheese
Cost less than $6.00 serves 2

I have more and I will post them but I have to go to work now
