Yesterday was our company picnic. I spent a lot of time over the last few weeks getting it organized, making sure people were bringing things and renting the covered picnic area at a nearby park (good thing too, because it rained all morning!).
I didn't have time for my workout, but I did pack a lot of things in and out of the office, up and down the stairs, and to and from the car (I probably burned as many calories as my more intense workout). I was carrying Costco bagged ice, cases of soda, loading & unloading the grill (we used mine from home). I ate whatever I wanted and tried not to feel guilty about it!
I ate my hot dogs without buns or condiments, but there was this incredible mexican layer dip! Oh, it was soooo good, and I had more today from the leftovers. I did the same thing with the Costco bakery gourmet cookies. But I only went over by 490 calories yesterday, because of a wonderful thing called PORTION CONTROL!
OMG - I'm so excited that I actually practiced portion control (ok, I had 2 cookies instead of 1)!!! Once upon a time I would have just binged on all the great tasting food, especially on things I don't get that often. I ate moderate portions and did not keep eating after I was full. Instead I talked as much as I could! hehehe, whatever works, right? And I am very proud of myself that the only dessert I ate was the cookies - I could have had apple pie and banana bread too... Yay me!
Of course, after all the excitement, I got home around 7, visited with my honey for a while (he didn't go with me) and promptly fell asleep on the couch. I woke up at 9 and went to bed! And I was so wiped out that I couldn't get out of bed this morning and exercise. So I think I'm going to have to fit in my work-out on my lunch break, because I have plans for the evening again tonight - scrapbooking with a friend, followed by karaoke.
I just had to share my wonderful portion control news with everyone - I'm very proud of myself!

It's Friday once again, time for my long work day. This has been an interesting week for me with weight fluctuations and eating habits. I had gotten down to 285, then went back up to 288. I didn't post anything about it, since I've been reading everyone elses posts and there were so many people going through the same thing. I figured it was just my turn to gain. But when I read the post about the SP calories burned calculator not factoring in your weight, something clicked. www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes
I went to the calorie counter that was posted www.caloriecontrol.org/exercalc.html and used it to update my fitness settings. My daily caloric intake jumped by 300 Calories! So Weds night I adjusted my menu and implemented it yesterday, and today I am back down to 286.4. I have not updated my ticker, since my official weigh in will be Monda. Yay! Thank you RAINE2LOSE for posting that link! I'm definitely going to have to invest in a heart rate monitor, to be more accurate and see how many calories I am actually burning. I just haven't had time.
Today I work anywhere from 17-20 hours. I have 2 jobs, so I will work 8-5 in the office, then go home and get my food ready for the evening, fix my hair & makeup, change clothes, and head to my 2nd job at 6:30. I'll work in the casino cashier cage from 6:50 to whenever they decide to close (can stay open as late as 6:00 am, but if there are no customers they can choose to close as early as 3:00 am).
Because it is such a long day for me, I usually log some of my late night/early morning snacks/meals to Saturday. I usually get home between 5-6:30 Saturday morning, and sleep until around 2:30 in the afternoon, so my appetite gets thrown out of whack for the day and I usually only eat one main meal, with a small snack later in the evening. HOWEVER - my friends are having a BBQ/House Party tomorrow evening, so I will be consuming alcohol and probably more calories than usual. Because of my weird schedule, I usually eat whatever I want for my 1 meal on Saturday, so I will be treating this party just like any other Saturday meal. The only difference is the alcohol.
I'm not too worried about following the nutrition guidelines for this party, as I know you have to be able to live a normal life, not be "on a diet" so to speak. And Friday's schedule usually causes me to lose 2 lbs anyway, plus I've already logged all my food for the 2nd job into Friday's plan this time, instead of Saturday's.
I am very optimistic about this week's weigh-in. Even if the scale doesn't go below 285, I feel like this week will have been a success. I am feeling so much more energetic, and my body feels stronger, more flexible, and more coordinated! I've been walking a lot (4-5 times a week, 40-45 min) and doing the Done dance, along with the 10 min jump start cardio video. I am having some problems with my left foot/ankle, but it is nothing I can't handle. My ankle and the top outer edge of my foot start to hurt towards the end of my walk, so I've been using a wrap on it. I also somehow managed to bruise the bottom/arch of the same foot and have a nice goose-egg to show for it too! Ah, but this kind of pain passes, and it tells me that I am alive and moving my body!
Thanks to all my wonderful Done girls for inspiring, motivating, and cheering me - and for needing me too! I feel like you are all my new extended family, and I don't think I would have made so many life changes if it hadn't been for all of you.
Last night I went out for karaoke with my friends (we usually go every Thursday) and had my big mug of water with lemon. I've switched from beer to lemon water - YAY ME! But the best part of the evening was that my ex-husband was there. We got married at a very young age, stayed married for 15 years, and became closer after our divorce then we were while married. He and my BF adore each other (in fact the BF says that when we get married, the ex is either walking me down the aisle or will be the best man...lol). Anyway, we have both been so busy that we haven't seen each other or even talked in months. And all I could talk about was Spark! hehehe... But really, it was a wonderful night and I just wanted to share with you all.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend! I will try to make good food choices at the party tomorrow, and will alternate my alcohol with water, so that I don't get too dehydrated and sabotage myself...

I set my alarm to get up early today so that I could add the Done Girl Dance to my morning routine. Since I was up anyway, and not dressed yet, I decided to weigh myself - just for the hell of it. I just weighed on Monday, so I figured I wouldn't really see any change, but all night last night my BF kept insisting that he could really SEE that I've lost weight. He thought I'd lost around 50 lbs, and was very surprised when I said it was only 23.
So anyway, I stepped on that scale, and guess what? I'm down to another 2.6 lbs since Monday - down to 288.8 - which puts me at 25.2 lbs lost! YAY! I broke the 25 lb mark. 10.2 of that has been with Spark in the last 3 weeks. I am so psyched - I started my Done dance with tons of energy, and finished about 10 minutes ago, but I'm still chair dancing!

Holy Cow - I just used my afternoon break to do the VIDEO: Coach Nicole's Jump Start Cardio Workout. It's only 10 min long, and I did it at my desk (brought my tennies).
I was only able to do the basic steps, side-to-side and front-to-back. It made my hips hurt! I had to get creative on the arm movements in order to really get my heart-rate up. And even then, my hips hurt so bad I thought I wasn't going to make it!
I didn't realize how horribly out of shape I really was until I tried this.
NEW GOAL: Do the Jump Start Cardio Workout every day at work until I can do all the moves as shown.
REWARD: I will reward my doggies instead of myself, by taking them for a long walk! By that time, I will be able to keep up with them!

Last night I went Mall Walking with my sister and a friend. It was a lot of fun, but we had to detour around people a lot. My friend is about 7 inches shorter than I, so I had to shorten my stide considerably, meaning I didn't get as good a workout as I should have. But still, movement is movement.
We are walking again tonight, but on the Centennial Trail instead of at the mall, because it is fairly cool today. I can't wait! I'm going to try moving my arms more to get my heart rate up, and if that doesn't work, I think I will invest in some ankle and/or wrist weights.
