Feeling not as good today, re-read Chapter 7 because I suspected I'd been making some unhealthy choices regarding sugar. Bought two loaves of gluten free bread and had a slice of toast with my salad. My daughter reminded me that buying gluten free is not a good option. Yesterday, I served a salad to hubby and grandson which they loved. But now I realize that my homemade salad dressing was not a wise choice. It was orange marmalade with a litle orange juice. High fructose corn syrup in that!! Today, I will just squeeze an orange or lemon over the salad instead. We will get used to this and it will be worth the effort.

Wheat Belly

Since we started eliminating salt and wheat products, we are enjoying our food more than ever. It is true, for me, that bread and all other wheat products have been the number one health destroyer. Although toast has long been my favorite food, I have not missd it at all and I actually see my wheat belly melting away.

I'm so glad I found this book!

    Thanks for all your support, which I just now discovered! My husband hasn't read the book yet but I read to him from my kindle and explain things that I've read when we have our meals. He is enjoying the food so far.

Ready, Set, Go!

I joined Spark People today (after an extended absence). It feels so comforting to be back! I am going to use the blog feature to keep track of progress. This being the day I joined, I am givng myself until Sunday to get rid of the food that doesn't belong in my kitchen, to set up my exercise program and to be ready to track everything.

My goal is to lose 36 pounds by September. SP set this goal for me.

I have joined two challenges on the Healthy Heart team: 1. No junk food for 21 days and 2. Lose 1 pound per week.

My husband's dad and 3 of his brothers have had major heart attacks. After his 3rd brother almost died a couple of weeks ago, he has finally realized his personal need to get serious about switching to a heart-healthy diet. This is going to make it soooooo much easier for me!

I believe we will support each other in a healthier approach to life in our seventies! I am determined to follow through, and it looks like he is too.
