Size 8 jeans

Woo Hoo! I went to the store today and for the first time is 5 years I bought a pair of size 8 jeans. I couldn't beleive it. I was so excited. They weren't even the kind that have all of the stretch built in. It really helped make my day and encourage me to keep it up! Size 6 here I come!

What is it about Mondays? I am not even working this summer and I still have the Monday blues. I cannot seem to find the "want to" to do any physical activity today. My sinuses are acting up and that is making me tired and I just feel bad. I got a 30 minute walk in this morning with the kids. I had planned on some YBB this evening, but it's not going to happen. I will make myself get on the treadmill and I plan on a few crunches. I can't stop now. I have come too far -- the goal line is getting closer and closer.

    Hi there,

I saw your post on one of the boards and thought I would send you a little encouragement. I can relate with the whole teacher/summer syndrome. It seems that just when we get into a routine of good habits, our schedules change and blows it all to peices. The hardest part for me is staying focused on my diet the first 2 or 3 weeks back. That is when we actually get to go out for lunch and visit with adults. It's hard to not indulge in the yummy foods that are never offered throughout the year.
I have been able to do it before with lots of accountability friends and encouragement. The trick is setting up the friendships and guides that will help me out rather than sabotage the plan.

If you are interested in being an accountability friend as school approaches, let me know. I can be there for you and coach you on as well.

I'm not feeling to good today. I feel like I'm getting a sore throat and I hate that.

We went to town today and of course my family wanted to eat somewhere, and not somewhere with low cal options. So, I sat and ate my low calorie PB&J sandwich I had packed while everyone else had Red Brick Pizza. It was hard, but I did it. I think I deserve to lose a couple of pounds for that! Unfortunatly it's not that easy.

I don't think I'll get in any exercise today, I just don't feel like it.


Dentist, haircuts, school supplies and popcorn

So the kids had a dentist appointment today. That shoul d be a mundane task, but not for me! My daughter did fine, even had her first set of X-Rays. Then it was my son's turn. Now, keep in mind it was his first visit to the dentist (he's only 2) but the child wouldn't get in the chair. (With or without me.) We finally coaxed him with a toothbrush (he thought it was a toy) and the dentist was able to brush his teeth. Baby steps.

Next on the agenda -- he needed a haircut. The child HATES haircuts! So, I decided that maybe it would help to take him to a salon that specializes in children. When it came our turn you would have thought we were trying to cut off a limb, not just hair. He screamed louder that I have ever heard him scream. The lady was great though and calmed him fairly quickly. We were able to leave sain, and he had a decent haircut.

On to Target. Kindergarten school supplies -- I like to get a head start on things. Now of course the list was on the fridge at home, so I asked a worker if they had one available. Well, I guess I was too early, because they won't have those until next week. (I should have gone to Wal-Mart). I figured I was already there so why not spend some money -- right? I start moving up and down isles, putting things in the buggy and taking things out when the kids decide they are hungry. I had forgotten to eat and they were probably starving so I bought them a bag of popcorn and a lemonade each. BIG MISTAKE. Target will be finding popcorn in places they didn't know popcorn could go for a LONG time.

All in all I think I got a lot accomplished today. I stayed within my calorie goal - although I had to make a few adjustments because I was out and forgot about lunch. Not to bad I'd say.

Get up and move. Easier said than done. My problem lately is that when I try to do anything my 2 year old wants to crawl on me. I end up trying to get a workout in while he's napping, problem is I have to be semi-quiet. I've been doing well (in my mind) getting something in each day. My fear is that after the initial gung ho feeling of starting a new plan is gone I will start to slack off. Something will come and knock me off track. Hopefully I can keep at it.
