Fishing today

Thursday, March 01, 2012

The building I work at has small retention ponds on three sides. They are primarily for rainwater collection, however they do support a healthy population of fish. I keep an ultra light fishing rod at work for those days I want to try my hand at catching a few. At lunch time the temp was 75 degrees, no kidding. I had to get out and get some sun, whether I caught something or not. I fished for about half an hour and caught five fish. (4 bass and 1 crappie) I'd say that was a lunch hour well spent.

Beat the rain

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

I beat the rain in today. I got some intervals in during the commute and have a few more planned on the ride home. I looks like the ride home will be wet, but I'm not made of sugar. From my experience, once your wet you can't get much wetter. As long as there is no electrical activity, what the heck. My panniers are water proof, and for the most part so am I.

On a side note I will hit 9000 miles on the trucker very soon. It's probably time to get a tune up.

Head winds

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Rode in today facing headwinds the whole way. This really just equates a slower ride in, but it does require more work. A friend of mine who competes in ironman triathlons refers to them as training winds.

Love that! I rode my bike today into the wind and it does slow you down (and I'm already slow - ha!). I like how your friend calls them training winds.

Great job with your bike riding!

I really do enjoy early morning rides when the temps are near freezing. What a way to wake up.

Got the intervals done

Sunday, February 26, 2012

Well, yesterday was just to windy to get the intervals done, so I did them today. 3 sets of 15 minute ramps with a 5 minute warm up and 10 minutes rbi. Good hard ride, just what I needed.
