Inspirational Quotes

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

In my recent issue of LL4G, they had a whole page of great inspirational quotes, here are some of them:

Give thanks for my abilities
Do the right thing!
Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful
Try to make at least 3 people smile every day!
Live with energy, empathy and enthusiasm
I am in charge of my own destiny!
No one is in charge of my happiness except me
Carpe diem ("seize the day")

I cut it out and put it in my "The Spark" book, which I read each night.

Vision Board is inspiring

Last night I finally got my vision board complete, which I'm calling my "Spark Board". I took all the goals I wrote down in the beginning and all the daily things I'm doing to help reach those goals and made a great board. It's in my guest bedroom where I go each morning for my work clothes, so it reminds me every day of where I want to be and inspires me to keep at it!

What a great idea! I did this a year ago and it really is great...I think I need to pull it out and put weight loss on the board!

Do something constructive each day

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

One of the items I put on my daily goals was to do something constructive each day. Usually when I get home from work before dinner. So far I've cleaned out my closets, my office and last night I organized the plastic containers and cleaned out the "junk" drawer. Not only does this keep me from sitting in front of the TV, but I get a great sense of accomplishment when it's done. And over the weekend I helped my husband with some outdoor chores, which I normally don't do. I think I surprised him - LOL! emoticon

Re-training yourself

Monday, January 10, 2011

This weekend I splurged in calories one day, but since I kept my mini-goal of fitness each day, when I felt like berating myself ... I remembered to celebrate that I met my goal. And instead of feeling like giving up (as in the past ... oh well, I blew it, might as well quit), I reminded myself that it was okay. And when I didn't feel like "exercising" one day. I got out my MP3 and decided to dance in my living room. Before I knew it, I had boogied for 45 mintues and was sweating ... and the best part, I had a blast! Never give up!

One day at a time

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

Since joining Spark People, I have begun reading the book and managing a workout routine. Within a week, I got the flu which set me back for almost 10 days. Now I'm back on track, with a daily calorie and walking goal. But my other goal is to not watch more than one hour of TV while sitting and to read The Spark each night before I go to sleep for inspiration.
It's really true that if you take one day at a time, then celebrate that success ... it works! Thanks to all you Spark People for providing amazing support!

What a positive, uplifting post! I have been working on healthier aspects to my life since the end of October. I think I'm going to use your example of 1 hour of TV and read The Spark (just bought) each night. Thanks for your insights!
