Today was my Oncology appointment with my new doctor. She came in to tell me that my cancer marker was down from 18 to 16 this time. I am so happy and relieved, too, because I always start worrying before the appointment.

After the appointment my friend and I went to Boston Market for a late lunch. That one wasn't so great. I got the sweet potato casserole and creamed spinach. That sweet potato thing was a whopping 460 calories. I had no idea it was that high in calories. (I did know it was too many carbohydrates for me, though). I guess I will have to do my own sweet potatoes from now on. For supper I had a peach. I'm hoping that will keep me for the night. I'm really not hungry for anything else now anyway.

    I'm glad you got good news!
Those tumor marker numbers can be worrisome at times.
I recently had to have my medication changed because mine started rising again.
I just got lab work done today, so I'm hoping next week I'll find out that my tumor marker is going down instead of up.

    Glad to hear that your dr. appointment went good. I know I blew my diet this weekend, but we know that the next meal or day we can get right back on track.

Totally confused

Today I decided it was time to do the weight/measurement page again. I went down a few pounds finally. I am in a smaller size jeans. But my measurements, which I started doing because the weight wouldn't come down, are bigger. How am I in a smaller size jean when I am bigger around and why am I bigger around than when I weighed 10 pounds more?

Today we will be working on things in the yard and a friend will be helping get shingles back down on the roof. We have had a fairly strange summer, with rain most of it and a lot of wind. I am hoping the roof doesn't have hail damage, but think that most of the hail missed here and hit the north side of town. We will also be putting together a couple of dog runs so the dogs have more room when I am gone too long. I wish they got along so they could run the entire yard.

This week made a couple changes that I hope will help with my life. My friend signed me up as a Tupperware Consultant. That might be a bit of a challenge since I don't know many people interested in getting any. But I have talked to a couple people that might be interested. We also got my hair style changed a bit. It's got a little bit more height and curves around my face a little more. I think I like it this way, even though it is a little shorter.

  there's a few things that can cause that confusion. it could be a mixture of things. It could be the style and brand of jeans. you might be intaking more water. it could be a scale problem. i can see why it can be confusing.

Old Jeans

When I had cancer I had lost a lot of weight and bought some Wrangler Aura Jeans. After surgery I immediately started gaining that weight back. I haven't been able to wear those Wranglers for the last year plus. Sunday I was having trouble with the jeans I have been wearing, so yesterday I decided to try the Wranglers again. I haven't really been losing weight, but apparently I have redistributed it. I slipped into those Wranglers like I had never had any trouble with them. They are so comfortable and are a type of jeans that don't make me look so fat as I do in others. YIPPEE!

Today I finally made it back to the pool after a hectic last few weeks helping a friend out. It felt great. The time the pool is open has increased for the fall, winter, and spring sessions, so I was in there for 2 hours today.

I have also walked with Movers and Shakers from the hospital and taken my dogs out for walks the last couple of days, which they enjoyed better than running in the large yard. I hope that I can keep all this up and start dropping weight as well as getting in better shape. Thank you Spark People friends for all your encouragement.

Trying for a new start

I haven't been too good about things since I got back from St. Louis, but today I decided to make a new start at it (hopefully). I am going to try to just eat what I have at home other than for veggies and fruit and milk. Maybe that will make things healthier and I will save a little on expenses. I successfully resisted a few things today, like pies and M&Ms and made some stir fry for lunch.

I've also not been to the pool much since getting back, but my friend is all moved now so I am hoping I will make it several times a week again.

I hit the big pool today

I have been doing all my water exercise (mostly swimming) in the small, warm therapy pool. I use floats that work like weights (backwards) and do some aerobics in there. Today I noticed that the big pool was open at the same time now, so I tried a lap in it. From one end to the other is 3 times that of the therapy pool. I did make it the entire way one way, then rested and on the way back had to stop once about half way. Someone told me it wore you out a lot more to swim in the warm water pool, but I got worn out sooner in the big pool. I want to try to make it at least down and back without having to take a break before the end of the year. That might not seem like much, but it is for me. Heck, I don't think I have ever done the length of a large pool before. I also tried my goggles (need them to see anything) and swimming like you are supposed to, putting your face in the water and breathing. I could make that for about 3 strokes before getting water in my nose, so I have to work on that more, too.

I am going to have to try to find ways to strengthen my stomach area muscles when I'm in the pool. When I sneeze, it hurts.

Coming back from my trip I have had a lot of trouble getting back into gear. It was not so difficult from me when I started with SP.

To anyone who has posted remarks on my page or to my blogs, I appreciate them. I just don't know how to write back on those. Sorry.
