Here is what I found to get me through what I'm feeling right now. They are Climbing Wisdoms. I don't do rock climbing, but hey, they lifted me up out of my funk.

* "Focus on where you are & your next move. Don't look down or focus on falling. Just plan your next step & move."

* "Breathe through the fear, stay present, take one more step towards the sky."

Just sharing what I wrote this morning in my journal.

Feeling like sh*t. Don't feel like progress is being made on this 30 day challenge - I guess b/c last week was a "bust." Feel like all the eating & drinking over a few days ruined everything. Challenge ends 12/7 - need to get it together. Only 1 week left. I don't feel like I'm going to make it. I don't see where I look any different (weight or inches wise). This challenge was a waste.

    You know what sis you can do this. I started over on my challenge and I am going to stick with it as much as I can. Keep praying for me. I know we can do this. Let's get back to '07 ;-)

    Ok Diva, out of the mouth the heart speaks... You have to speak things into existence. Progress is not just the numbers on the scale, it's what you can look back and see what has changed for you over your life. For instance you purchased a home... do that ever change, NO! You brought a brand new car... do that ever change, No! You have lost and kept off 50+ pounds... do that change, NO! You have done so good and need to commended for what you have done... Stop focusing on the negative...negative only feeds negative. My scale have been stuck in the 280's for a minute but do I harp on that, NO... Why because I am going to change it one day. I am working out 4 to 5 days a week... and that can only change something... Why wouldn't it. I haven't always been working like this so it is going to eventually change something. When you do things differently, things change... It might not be when we want them to change, but they will change.

Keep working hard, if that's not enough, work harder. Push until something changes... You know that's how this game of life is.... If you don't get the promotion do you quit? No you work harder until you get it and you have to do the same in this healthy lifestyle quest. This is not a quick fix but a life long journey to become stronger, healthier creatures. I hope this helps you!!!!

WELL, this 30 day challenge takes a turn. I was bamboozled. LOL.
So I was talking to my mentor/sergeant (LOL) yesterday. I have attached the convo just so you wouldn't miss anything.

SO, because of my emotional attachment to the scale, I can't weigh-in AT ALL!!! I can only determine my success by how my clothes fit, & taking measurements here & there. SMH. This is crazy. LOL.

That scale had me stressed out. I was an emotional wreck. Lately, I've just been trying to focus on my NSVs which I'm learning are just as important, if not more.

    I feel u on that Fab. I was thinking the same thing. As a matter of fact I was thinking about changing the name of the team to 'I hate the scale'...lol. Sometimes the scale can be very discouraging and throw people off their square... That's why I was giving quizzes and tips to help everyone understand that the scale is not the only accessment on how well you are doing. You have to take into account the inches lost. If I can get into a size ten at 250 then I'm good. I use that to say that everyone body is different and going to lose differently. I have been working out like a mad women for 5 weeks plus to only lose 2 pounds and almost 5 inches... So as you can see everything is not measured in pounds... Your mentor don't want you to get discouraged and fall off the wagon... NO SCALES it is. Keep up the good work!

    Ditch the scale girl. I had to learn the hard way, now i'm addicted to the tape measure...lol. (like its really possible to lose an inch in one day without working out...HAHA). But that darn scale can dictate your entire day based on the results. I have faith in you! Burn the scale! LOL

How do you know much to eat (calorie wise) in combination with working out? I had my calorie range at 1200 to 1550 at one point. Was told that I wasn't eating enough w/ the all the exercise I was doing. I'm on this 30 day challenge, & my range is now at 1500 to 1800. (Have yet to really hit 1500.)
I'm totally at a loss, & frustrated.
I haven't loss any "real" weight since uhhhh about April/May of this year. So I feel like all this working out, & eating healthy I'm doing is pointless if all I'm doing is maintaining. My goal right now is to lose, not maintain. All these changes here & there are getting me no where.
My next weigh-in day is Dec. 7, & then Dec. 31st. So I'm trying to make some significant weightloss progress by those dates.

    Also try to get a heart rate monitor for accurate calories burned. Sometimes spark's excercise cal burned amounts are too high...so the calories you think you are burning is actually less or more depending on your weight.

    Ok, like both of them have already said make sure that you are inputting the correct amount of exercise into the tracker... and because your body could be burning less take off a day of exercise so SP can adjust your calorie intake. Try to increase the intensity and weights you doing. This way you can build muscle and endurance. Because you lost 50 pounds you also lost some muscle needed to burn the fat... as a result you need to turn some of the fat into muscle by increasing intensity/weight. It might take a minute but the scale will start to go down to reflect those changes! I hope this helps!

    Hi there...keep hanging on and moving like you are doing! If you have upped the amount of exercise you are doing....or just the intensity.....you need to be sure that your tracker fitness goal reflects that. Otherwise as odd as it sounds...you may not be eating enough and your body will hang on to it instead of burning it. Your calorie goal will automatically adjust in order to efficiently support whatever fitness goal you set. Whew...that sounded kind of rambly,lol. Just remember that how you are FEELING as a result of all your wonderful healthy efforts is just as important if not more than that scale. Keep up the hard work and hope this might help a little : )

  Okay. I use the trackers already. So are you saying to only change up my fitness goals, & let SP automatically handle the nutrition end?

    Here's what's been working for me:

Use Spark's Nutrition & Fitness trackers! However, change your fitness goals to more closely match what you're actually doing. This will increase your nutrition goal ranges (calories, fat, carbs, protein) in the nutrition tracker. Stay in range for all four. Spread your nutrition throughout the day. I have to pre-track my food in the morning to get it right. If I wait, I go over or under on at least one of the 4.

Drink enough water. Get enough sleep. Make time to relax & de-stress. Spark!
Slowly tweak your nutrition, water, sleep, exercise, etc., until you find what works.

Sometime the scale moves slowly and we just cannot see the wonderful good things that are occurring inside. Do NOT Give UP! Our bodies are wonderfully complex creations.

30 Day Challenge (11/8/09 - 12/7/09)

*Not allowed to get on the scale until challenge is completely over due to me being all about the numbers. (I have allowed the scale to emotionally drain me.) I must concentrate ONLY on NSVs.

*Only workout to be Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred (for 30 days). (Workouts need to be KIUAN. Was not really pushing myself.)

*Must speak positively, & be optimistic about journey. No "but(s)" allowed. (Due to frustrations, & being pessimistic.)

*Must eat healthy within calorie range of 1500 to 1800. (I think it's too much, but hey, it's the range I was given for the challenge.)

    You can do it! Successful weight loss (or any goal) is a series of new beginnings. Sometimes, I have to start over 7 times in a week! Don't be too hard on yourself. You're absolutely right about being positive & optimistic.
