Broken Heart

Please pray or send good vibes to my Sister and her family. Last week she got the horrid news that she has ovarian cancer. Yesterday they learned her husband has esophageal cancer and it seems advanced. Details aren't known yet but neither of these diagnosis are good.

My sis is only 58 and her DH is only 57. They have recently moved to Florida to help my neice. She is devastated.

I will be going to visit and see how I can help... Please pray for us.

emoticon Very plain to see that I need to refocus. I did OK on my steps and my eating this week so I feel pretty good about everything. I do notice that I start the week strong and then backslide as the week goes on. I may need to start tracking twice week. Maybe Monday and Thursday... I can then make adjustments that count.

The weather is turning wintery so I have to take advantage of the sun while I have it. The temps are falling but the rain has let up. Time to get my walking shoes on.

My husband gave me this point to ponder, "Common Sense is a flower that doesn't grow in everyone's garden. " That would be me. LOL

    At work, we often say "Logic is a pretty flower that smells bad."


My efforts and good habits definitely wane a bit as the week goes on. I guess that says something about Mondays!

Weekly Check in

DH and I had a very busy and fun week to report. Last Saturday was our Bi-Annual meeting of the Nature Photographers of the Pacific Northwest. This week we had a photo show and I took a class in quilting. Great fun but hard on the eating patterns and exercise. emoticon I gained 2 pounds and so I know what to do for the next week. Yup - back to exercise and eating a proper diet.

I am having some PhotoShop fun as I'm trying to get creative with the tools.

This is a picture of my grandson with a few revisions LOL

Busy times

Yesterday was a quilt show and I will be traveling for the next 2 weeks. I am almost feeling a little stressed. Not to worry though - I just need to get busy on my various duties.

I think that is why I didn't keep track of my food intake and exercise this week. I will start anew this week. My weight was down a little so it is still working.

I am off for my walk than back to getting ready for the next week.

    I know that it may seem weird, but when life is gearing up I make a concerted effort to find fruits and vegetables to eat (raw, steamed or roasted). It's my way of telling my body, "Here's the good stuff. Be ready, the ride is going to get rough." In the thick of things it can be tricky to eat healthy foods, so I try to front-load it.

Wonderful celebration for our 28th anniversary. Friday spent with good friends who unfortunately are in declining health. We enjoyed the company and felt privileged to have a little bit more of their time.

On Saturday we went to a wonderful concert put on by the Redhead Express. They are a family group and just a joy to watch. We sat by their soundman/dad and received many congrads on our 28 years.

After words we went to dinner with friends and then had cake at our house.

Needless to say my weight is up this morning and my exercise is a little low for the week. I only averaged 8,246 steps and for the week my calories were an average of 1612. I need to stay under 1400 to meet my goals.

I am not discouraged but I do need to remind myself that lifestyle changes are like a marriage... you have to stick with it to make it work.

    Congratulations on your 28 years of marriage! Wonderful. It's funny to read this as just this morning, I was thinking about what it would be like if I put the effort into a healthy self as I do a healthy marriage.
