My Cholesterol

Saturday, September 28, 2013

Doctor called with my results and my cholesterol was 201. This is the first time that is has EVER been high and out of the desired range. I am not sure what the exact cause it but I must figure it out.

You'll figure it out and the neat thing about having a 'scare', is that it is the universe's way of getting our attention! Thank God you have health care to where you know about this ahead of time before it gets out of hand. You'll be fine, if not better! :)

Work Out Buddy

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Had a good time working out with AW this morning. Running seems to get easier and easier every time.

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Well we found out that we were expecting a second child and were thrilled because we wanted two kids and for them to be close in age. However, God had another plan and I lost my baby at 12 weeks due to an ectopic pregnancy that came very close to killing me. Recovery has been rough but I am so very thankful to be here. I am not sure how long it will take for my wound to heal but after five weeks I am still very sore just from simply bending over.

I have been cooped up indoors for 5 weeks now and all I want to do is go out for a run. Of all the things I wish I could do, for some odd reason, hitting the gym and weightlifting is at the top of my list. Perhaps it is my minds way I telling me I have a lot of pent up emotions that I must still work through. Physically I am barely able to keep up with my 1 year old but we manage each day and I am always thankful when my husband gets off from work so I can have a break.

Being active on this forum is something that I really miss. It is my goal for 2010 to work out a plan that will allow me to get back on track in regards to not only taking care of my family but MYSELF as well.

It will be such a relief when the day the day finally comes where I am no longer suffering from post-surgery abdominal pain/discomfort.

Mommy and Baby completed a 5K today

Saturday, December 06, 2008

It was about 35 degrees at 8:00 a.m. this morning when I met another mommy to do a 5K.

My day started when DH strolled in from work at 4 a.m. and then LO needed to be fed at 4:25 a.m. So after a diaper change I figured I would get an early start so I showered at 5 a.m., napped briefly and then managed to get out the door by 6:55 a.m.

I am happy to report that I finished it in 56 minutes (and we were not last although when it started we were last by the time we hit the one mile marker).

Cymar decided to be upset and most active during the entire 5K. LOL

I had to first carry him in my arms while pushing a regular four wheeled stroller up and down hills for the first 15 minutes and then I spent another 20 minutes bent over holding a bottle steady in one hand and navigating the stroller with the other. DBL LOL

When he wasn't in my arms or feeding he would only quiet down if Mommy was RUNNING! Talk about being my little motivator.

At one point the car that follows the racers through the streets was on my heels but once Cymar was satisfied with the bottle (yes, I nursed him ahead of time too)I was able to pick up the pace significantly.

Afterward, I enjoyed lunch at Panera with two girlfriends and fellow racers.

I am now beginning to feel sore and expect to probably be laid up tomorrow. However, I am so thankful that my friend invited me to join her because since giving birth I use any excuse to avoid exercise. Completing this 5K to me is just what I needed to get my mind and body on track with whipping my post-pregnancy body back into pre-pregnancy shape.

Keep in Mind:
Cymar weighs about 18+lbs, the stroller is another 22lbs and the infant car seat is 7.9lbs. Do the math!! That is what I was pushing. So for me this experience was not only cardio but an odd form of weight training as well.

If I had to do it all over again I would!

I am proud of me and baby and I hope this post inspires other new mamas to realize that you can do it too. It may not be as easy with your LO or without a wonderful jogging stroller but it is doable.

While inspecting a set of dishware that I just received in the mail I accidently stepped on the bubble wrap that was used to pad the box. Let's just say that the little kid in me took over as I began to dance on the wrap to here the pop, pop, pop, pop......

That should count for about 10 calories burned. LOL
