Crossfit

Thursday, March 21, 2013

I have been doing Crossfit for about three weeks inconsistently. I am doing an On Ramp program in which I am learning the basic movements. However, I am also getting a damn good workout as well out of each time. Life has been getting in the way. However, days that I'm not going to the box, I am doing Cardio. Yesterday I ran 3 miles. It's been a while since I've been able to do that. Also, I have been told since I am doing Crossfit, I should NOT weigh myself. I will be gaining muscle..blah blah blah. Well I stepped on the scale this morning and the person who told me that was right. I wish I hadn't. I'm not being discouraged by what the scale says this time. I feel good. In my eyes I look good, so I know I am NOT gaining fat. I just need to set a date in which would be a good time to weigh myself again and hope it goes down.

It's hard not to weigh yourself - you have to trust the program. Like Health-e-clare says - take measurements & pictures. Also don't get discouraged - look at the CrossFit athletes - they aren't fat they are ripped. If you get ripped and like the way you look are those extra pounds on the scale going to matter?

Instead of weighing yourself, I would either take starting measurements or take pictures and then compare those every month. I promise you'll see changes that way as the fat starts to melt off and muscle grows.

Congrats on Crosfit and I wish you continued success!

Grocery List

Wednesday, February 06, 2013

Every time I go shopping I noticed I buy the same things:

Eggs
Egg White Beaters
Chicken
Lean Ground Turkey
Salsa
Ketchup
Frozen Fruit
Fresh fruit ( bananas, apples, clementines, strawberries)
Oatmeal
Celery and Carrots
Sweet Potatoes
Tuna
Diced Jalepenos

I have made so many different meals out of these items. Who knew I could be creative. My latest love has been an egg white omelet with salsa. It is so filling and so good for you. Only thing is I should really add a whole egg and nix some of the egg whites, that way I get some vitamins, etc.

What I'd like to do is start blogging my meals and taking pictures of them. I feel like that'd be fun to do and would mean less time thinking about sweets :P

That sounds a lot like my list! I have started buying plain greek yogurt and have been using it as a substitution for mayo and sour cream. It makes a great veg dip with a little bit of skim milk and a ranch packet.

I say start taking pics and begin your blog now! No time like the present- start expressing that creativity :) emoticon

Spring Ahead!

Saturday, February 02, 2013

Spring is just around the corner! I'm very excited for cute skirts, dresses, capris, etc. I am dying to shop. However, it would be wasteful to do that right now when I am still wearing the same size. All my clothes from last year and now still fit. I want to have lost at least one pant size before I buy some new clothes. I do not expect to drop a size in tops. If anything I would just go from loose fitting tops to maybe semi-fitted or fitted tops. There's still time before spring weather hits so I think I am just going to use that time to keep eating healthy and working out and hopefully (eventually) I will drop a size. Then I will shop! Using Spring as motivation!

Hard times ahead

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

My boyfriend and I have been facing a lot of challenges lately. Besides the obvious stress and emotional roller coaster I have been on from it, it also means I'm more likely to give in to my emotional eating and start binging again. I don't want to do that. So far I've lost 11lbs. I'm on my way to getting where I want to be. I decided to join the group on here for Emotional Eaters. I figured it'd be a good precaution to take.

Besides for maintaining healthy eating habits it also impacts my exercise and sleep. I've been having difficulty sleeping even before we started getting stressed out. And between that and my mind always being else where it's been hard trying to exercise to the intensity that I want to. I feel like I'm slacking. emoticon

It is understandable that feeling stressed out makes you look for food when you are upset. I was the same way. But it is good to find other emotional eaters, such as us, so that we can compare stories and victories over emotional eating. Some say to chew gum instead of food when stressed out. You can also find brushing your teeth will help. Most of us do not eat after brushing our teeth because of the clean feeling inside our mouth. There are so many suggestions to help you. Just keep Sparking and adding a few new exercises to your day. You can do it!

Don't feel like a slacker. When you feel stressed out and want to reach for food pause and ask yourself "will this make me or the situation better?" Just put the food aside and try to rectify the situation or do some exercises. Just keep trying. Remember everything will pass by. emoticon
